Certain insects, such as mealworms ( Tenebrio molitor ), have shown the ability to effectively biodecompose plastic waste under environmentally benign conditions. However, sustaining this biodecomposition within insect populations presents challenges, high mortality rates and relatively slow decomposition limit viability of large‐scale recycling. To enhance process, protein‐rich nutritional additives are usually necessary. Despite this, there has been little guidance on selecting suitable nutrients for plastic‐eating insects like mealworms. In systematic investigation, aqueous solutions representative nonessential amino acids (NEAAs) essential (EAAs) used compared polystyrene by The study demonstrates that essentiality abundance in significantly impact rate biodecomposition. High‐abundance EAAs, phenylalanine (Phe) valine (Val), provide most notable enhancements, while low‐abundance NEAAs, cysteine (Cys), do not rate. results also indicate both water individual free acid reduce cannibalistic behavior among mealworms, enhancing their value. These findings a more rational basis cofeeds improve process.
