Background/Objectives Studies in rodents indicate that disruptions both cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) and guanosine (cGMP) signaling pathways are involved the development of hyperactive behavior. We examined whether vinpocetine, a phosphodiesterase type 1 inhibitor enhances brain cAMP cGMP levels, could mitigate locomotor hyperactivity mice exposed to lead during early development. Methods Swiss were 90 ppm their drinking water throughout gestation first ten postnatal days. At day 10 (PN10), blood levels (BLLs) about 30 µg/dL. PN30, animals either received vinpocetine (20 mg/kg, i.p.) or vehicle 4 h before evaluation activity open field. Results Lead-exposed males did not display differences compared controls, while lead-exposed females showed significant increase locomotion. Vinpocetine treatment significantly reversed lead-induced females. Conclusions These findings suggest play role induced by exposure.
