Impacts of land use and water level fluctuation on soil aggregates and nitrogen and carbon in newly formed reservoir buffer strips

Organic
matter

work,
we
examined
impacts

fluctuations

2021)

Reservoir
(CR)
The
research
discovered
that
mean
weight
diameter
(MWD)
geometric
(GMD)
aggregates
varied
across
uses,
ranking
as:
woodland
>
grassland
abandoned
cropland.
Moreover,
both
MWD
GMD
increased
as
grew.
Based
variation
partitioning
analysis
partial
least
squares
path
modelling
results,
showed
less
effect
nutrient
content
than
fractions
played
a
mediating
role
process.
Furthermore,
relative
contribution
coarse
(macroaggregates,
0.25
mm)
levels
was
greater
fine
(microaggregates,

mm).
findings
illustrate
various
protection
measures
should
be
considered
strategies
enhance
promote
accumulation

with
CR
addition,

provide

Assessing the Influences of Grassland Degradation on Soil Quality Through Different Minimum Data Sets in Southwest China

Establishing
a
suitable
and
useful
soil
quality
(SQ)
assessment
tool
is
imperative
for
the
accurate
evaluation
of
effect
environmental
changes
on
SQ.
This
study
constructed
four
indexes
(SQIs)
based
different
minimum
data
sets
weighted
additive
models
to
evaluate
influence
grassland
degradation
SQ
in
northwest
Guizhou,
China.
A
total
19
properties,
including
six
physical
chemical
seven
microbial
were
measured
at
depths
0–20
cm
construct
SQIs.
Results
showed
that
18
indicators
selected
as
potential
set.
Based
principal
component
analysis,
indicators,
organic
carbon
(SOC),
mean
weight
diameter,
α-glucosidase,
β-acetylglucosaminidase,
set
(MDS).
However,
SOC,
pH,
β-1,4-xylosidase,
Clay,
Bulk
Density,
selective
MDS.
Despite
notable
inter-correlation
among
established
SQIs,
SQI
derived
from
MDS
model
demonstrated
heightened
sensitivity
capacity
differentiation
with
respect
because
high
values
F
CV.
Grassland
significantly
reduced
SQ,
value
under
severely
degraded

by
51%

non-degraded
grassland.
