Abstract Casein-based composite materials show promise for sustainable applications due to their biodegradability and mechanical properties. With over 1.3 million tons of milk wasted annually, this study investigates repurposing resource into composites reinforced with 50 wt% recycled cellulose acetate fibers from cigarette butts. Mechanical testing revealed that outperformed those acetate, exhibiting a flexural modulus 3527.7 MPa strength 24.2 MPa, compared 1411 13.4 acetate. Shear tests also showed superior results (5.7 MPa) (3.3 MPa). Charpy impact further confirmed trend, strengths 8.1 kJ/m 2 6.7 These findings highlight the potential cellulose-reinforced casein as eco-friendly alternatives synthetic materials, addressing both waste pollution. By incorporating production process, aligns principles circular economy, promoting reduction, efficiency, sustainability. Future research will focus on scalability, fiber treatments, in construction, packaging, automotive industries. Graphical abstract
