A major challenge to make use of lignin as an antimicrobial material is the weak activity industrial lignin. Inspired by mechanism actions peptides, alkyldiamines were employed lysine mimics for modifications. Accordingly, aminoalkyl-modified lignins with different degrees substitution amino groups and hydrophobicity synthesized. The chemical structure, properties, activities as-prepared aminoalkyl thoroughly characterized state-of-the-art technologies. results indicated that aminobutyl showed enhanced against S. aureus E. coli performed even better than copper ions. action was similar polylysine, which damaged cell membrane, leading leakage intracellular molecules death cell. This study provides a feasible approach afford modified performance, would facilitate high-value valorization biological materials.

The depolymerization of natural biomass-based lignin is a definitive challenge, as it involves the integral breakdown complex and well-constructed structures. A sustainable method called ‘ionoSolv pretreatment’ employs ionic liquids in biomass processing. In this study, Bronsted acidic IL (BAIL); 1-methyl-3-(3-sulfopropyl)-imidazolium chloride, [C3SO3HMIM]Cl was synthesized commendably used to both assist under mild reaction conditions well benefit from commercially valuable vanillin. About 68% degree (DD) achieved optimized (120 °C, 60 min), yielding ca. 43% tetrahydrofuran (THF) soluble products. influence BAIL on investigated using chromatographic (gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, gel permeation chromatography, high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) spectroscopic techniques (Fourier transform infrared). HPLC analysis depolymerized detected clear presence 12% vanillin obtained 2 wt.% rice husk’s lignin.
