ABSTRACT This study introduces a novel approach to addressing the water resistance limitations of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)‐based biodegradable films by developing ternary blend system incorporating tung oil (T) and natural rubber (R), forming PTR films. Photocrosslinking, combined with thermal redox catalytic systems, facilitated creation enhanced network structures, as confirmed FTIR analysis, particularly at oils conjugated double bonds. Dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) revealed significant shifts in glass transition temperatures ( T g ), signifying crosslink density interconnectivity between components. The resulting demonstrated remarkable improvements resistance, evidenced higher solid remain percentages, reduced absorption, significantly lower vapor permeability (WVP). Mechanical properties, including tensile strength Youngs modulus, improved up 150% (from 6.6 MPa PT0R15‐r‐np 16.3 PT0R15‐r‐p30) 870% PT0R15‐r‐p30), respectively, due formation robust structures. Contact angle measurements moisture content further underscored hydrophobic barrier properties. These findings establish photocrosslinked sustainable high‐performance option for packaging applications, offering practical advantages such processing production times.
