Even though global warming is expected to raise the energy demand in office buildings, most analyses and design studies neither consider its impacts nor adaptive solutions. This study evaluates effects of future climate on an building Portugal proposes mitigation measures improve performance environmental sustainability. The simulates 2055 2090 under different scenarios using data from latest model experiments, considering systems, envelopes, operations interventions, assesses potential photovoltaic panels meet demand. results show that interventions may reduce electric consumption between 16 % 25 %, can 23 %–59 total demand, depending scenario year. However, storage technology equipment efficiency must evolve favorably reach low energy. findings reveal if a designed optimized for current will remain optimal demonstrate benefits applying cleaner production sustainable principles sector. provides valuable insights practitioners policymakers.

As a result of recent geopolitical events, zero-energy buildings must include climate change prevention strategy. Policies are moving in the direction an energy transition. Italian regulations, complying with European directives, driving toward increasingly thermally insulated buildings. An important objective this study is to determine whether updates building efficiency regulations from 2005, particularly for envelope, will increased envelope resilience change. The was analyzed without air conditioning, simulating extreme case long period gas supply. It has been located all zones and adapted respect local requirements imposed by national each zone. legal investigated Legislative Decree 192/2005, Ministerial 26/6/2015, 6/8/2020. forecasting analyses were carried out considering years 2030, 2050, 2070 three Representative Concentration Pathway scenarios (RCP 2.6, 4.5, 8.5). analysis results focused on trends heating, cooling total thermal performance index 2030–2070. For RCP scenarios, 2015 2020 optimize terms perform well limits. clean that lowering transmittance components leads improvement which, however, maintaining same trend over different suggests actually little affected value component structures.

As urbanization continues to accelerate globally, energy demand in cities is reaching unprecedented levels, contributing greenhouse gas emissions. In response, the concept of net-zero building (NZEB) becoming a sustainable solution for urban needs. NZEB aims achieve footprint by balancing it consumes with produces, primarily from renewable (RE) sources. This comprehensive literature review-based study explores role RE synergies context NZEBs, including discussions on definition and development RE-synergies achieving trends clusters climate change impacts their performance evaluation, policy regulatory frameworks, challenges possible solutions related NZEBs. It has been identified that while customizing definitions align regional supply important, same highly dependent architectural micro-climate features. The assessment effects practices should involve evaluating equilibrium, occupant comfort, interactions grid. There are still some technical, policy, socio-economic need more attention provide further enhancing development/performance NZEBs goal.
