The
deterioration
of
the
urban
environment
is
a
problem
which
has
captured
attention
governmental
departments
and
researchers,
who
are
committed
to
improving
from
perspective
optimizing
morphology.
Although
many
researchers
have
applied
computational
fluid
dynamics
(CFD)
plug-ins
study
problems
ventilation
pollutant
accumulation,
studies
on
reliability
simulation
accuracy
verification
CFD
currently
scarce.
Therefore,
we
used
three
based
different
architectural
design
platforms
evaluate
compare
their
operation
difficulty,
accuracy,
efficiency
through
analysis
results
ventilation.
This
complements
validation
plug-in
simulations
guides
planners
architects
in
selection
application
plug-ins.
show
that
generally
underestimates
wind
speed
at
pedestrian
level
prediction
poor
wake
area
obstacles,
especially
with
GH_Wind
plug-in.
Under
0°
inflow
direction,
Butterfly
were
most
consistent
experimental
values.
When
direction
increased
22.5°
45°,
Autodesk
showed
best
accuracy.
Overall,
achieves
balance
between
airflow
simulation.
Abstract
The
use
of
computational
fluid
dynamics
(CFD)
in
the
wind
engineering
(WE)
is
generally
defined
as
(CWE).
Since
its
foundation
2004,
OpenFOAM
CWE
has
been
increasing
progressively
and
covers
nowadays
a
wide
range
topics,
from
environment
to
structural
engineering.
This
paper
was
drafted
response
invitation
organizers
18th
workshop
held
Genoa
(Italy)
on
11–14
July
2023,
when
technical
session
Civil
Engineering
Wind
organized.
In
this
author
briefly
reviews
history
WE
surveys
evolution,
methods,
future
challenges
CWE.
Topics
are
here
regrouped
into
three
main
research
areas
discussed
physical,
purely
perspective.

since

be
considered
stand-alone
subfield
WE.
review
confirms
that
versatile
tool
widely
used
for
applications
often
require
new
models
developed
ad
hoc
by
