In recent decades, the impacts of urbanization on hydrological cycle have led to an increase in frequency and magnitude urban flooding events, this is also amplified by effects climate change. Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) provide a revolutionary change field, improving sustainability resilience cities. This research explores integration different SuDS with aim significantly reducing both flow volume celerity floods residual catchment area metropolitan city Querétaro (Mèxico), where extreme rainfall frequently occurs. representative suburb pressure environmental degradation problems. Biodiversity has important implications for the sustainable development of cities. Given paucity ground-based experiments, responses biodiversity to urbanization and its associated controls on a global scale remain largely unexplored. We present novel conceptual framework quantifying direct indirect impacts in 1523 cities worldwide using 100 m grid intactness index data (2017–2020) as proxy biodiversity. The results show pervasive positive impact cities, with mean 24.85 ± 9.97% 16.18 10.92%, respectively. is relatively large highly urbanized eastern United States, Western Europe, Middle East. predominantly influenced by intensity, population density, background climate. correlation between intensity most pronounced across all climate zones, while other driving variables influencing effect exhibited considerable variations. Furthermore, our findings indicate that are conditions Our have understanding future urban

Cities face complex challenges, including climate change, population growth, urbanization, natural hazards, pollution, biodiversity degradation, and inadequate public services. Hydro-meteorological hazards such as floods, landslides, droughts, heat waves are among the most significant risks, with floods often causing severe impacts loss of life. Traditional responses, typically hard engineering infrastructures, dominate mitigation efforts. However, green infrastructures (GIs) offer sustainable, cost-effective solutions added benefits, enhancing ecosystem services societal well-being. Despite their effectiveness, GI implementation is slow, particularly in developing countries, due to construction, operation, maintenance processes, alongside knowledge gaps. This study proposes an assessment framework evaluate performance mitigating hydro-meteorological hazards. By integrating hydrologic–hydraulic modeling, analyzes baseline post-intervention conditions, offering valuable insights into hazard reduction cost-effectiveness. Key indicators for assessing GIs include runoff volume reduction, peak flow flood node mitigation, increased time flow. Studies show that can achieve reductions 30–90%. aims advance adoption by providing practical tools assess monitor its management.

The aim of this study is to present a methodology for diagnosing cities in terms hydrological and meteorological threats, with the goal improving water management helping adapt changing conditions. Urbanisation expected progress unevenly across countries cities, influenced by factors such as climatic conditions, economic disparities, governance structures. Consequently, urban landscapes should strive balanced approach that integrates safety risk management, commercial spaces, emotional well-being, promotion biodiversity. Cities play pivotal role addressing climate change, they account significant share global energy consumption greenhouse gas emissions. In Poland, numerous national international projects are being implemented help mitigate impacts change. Among these, City Climate project aimed enhance residents’ quality life while facilitating pro-climate transition cities. A holistic multifaceted was adopted, incorporating analysis historical flood events based on archival documents rescue service reports, detailed GIS data soil sealing, non-drained basins, NDVI, NDBI, multi-criteria targeting develop effective solutions retention challenges. main findings indicate that: (1) combining insightful analyses using well-established methods provides robust foundation informed decision-making city authorities; (2) overlaying information layers, local flooding interventions, areas, drainage networks, helps identify areas requiring large-scale, technical, or nature-based solutions; (3) regardless size, there concerning trend increasing impervious surfaces replacing green alongside sprawl altering land use flood-prone regions, including mountainous, forested, floodplain be protected. These illustrate employing structured comprehensive can significantly contribute landscape planning, challenges change enhancing biodiversity through blue infrastructure.

Climate change can be considered one of the main current problems humanity. The subject has raised concern worldwide, encouraging global leaders and experts to delve deeper into discussions studies propose solutions, leading international agreements efforts. Mitigation, adaptation, transformation actions are required, especially in cities with higher population density, where increased demand for resources is expected coming years, coastal areas, which more susceptible environmental impacts caused by climate change. objective this study analyze feasibility implementing Green Infrastructures (G.I.) district Pirambu, an area classified as a zone social interest city Fortaleza (Brazil), contains high level vulnerability according municipal adaptation plan, characterized limitations buildings infrastructure, density low human development index. methodology includes decision-making analysis choosing among different G.I. typologies spatial data through geoprocessing software, aiming at offering ecosystem services that mitigate methodological process was based on Adaptation Plan (Fortaleza, 2020b) Infrastructure Implementation Guide (IPT, 2020). Thus, four types were proposed: multiple-use roads, rain gardens, permeable pavements, soil bioengineering. results show location each one, environment offered related warming, advantages applying them, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achieved their implementation.
