Exploring the complex relationship between population change and surface urban heat island (SUHI) effect has important practical significance for ecological transformation development of shrinking cities in context prevalence shrinkage global climate change. This paper compares SUHI region (Northeast Region, NR) growing (Yangtze River Delta, YRD) China, explores their differences driving mechanisms, using GIS spatial analysis Geodetector model. Our results indicated that there are significant changes intensity these two regions. About 72.22% NR were shrinking, while intensities increased by an average 1.69°C. On contrary, YRD shows a linear growth trend, decreased 0.11°C on average. The bivariate Moran’s I index also correlation not above Furthermore, primary drivers variations In NR, underlying changes, including green coverage built-up areas, most factors. However, atmospheric environment such as carbon dioxide emission sulfur emission, key YRD. Northam’s theory three-stage urbanization environmental Kuznets curve hypothesis powerful to explain differences.

Purpose With rapid urbanization, cities are facing various ecological and environmental problems. Living in harmony with nature is more important than ever. This paper aims to evaluate the ecosystem features of Azheke village, a key component Hani Rice Terraces World Cultural Heritage China. The focus on exploring effective ways improve relationship between humans natural environment through urban design order create livable sustainable city that can promote development smart ecology design. Design/methodology/approach study conducted systematic literature review answer following research questions: (1) How does achieve nature? (2) What approaches within ecosystems? (3) learn integrate from Azheke’s Findings sustains long-term human-nature traditional knowledge (TEK) efficient resource use. By incorporating biophilic nature-based solutions Azheke, along biodiversity-friendly planning, we boost health unique Azheke-inspired designs. Research limitations/implications primarily focuses relationship, strategies based biodiversity without delving into interactions other components ecosystems, such as social-cultural economic components. Originality/value provides new perspective for developing These findings provide theoretical references planners, designers decision-makers.
