Urban green space (UGS) has important impacts on human health, but an integrated participatory approach to UGS design for improved residents’ health been lacking date. The aim of our study was develop and evaluate such a novel address this gap. developed following guiding principles from the literature tested with groups children elderly as participants in two neighborhoods Maastricht (The Netherlands) low score economic indicators. aspects are inclusion both positive negative effects, combination resident self-assessment model-based assessment effects designs, use maps visualize designs effects. participant-generated resulted considerable (up fourfold) self-assessed increase UGSs meeting, stress reduction, leisure-based physical activity compared current situation. model-assessed were limited: heat slightly decreased (by 0.1 °C), active transport increased 30 m per day), perceived unsafety (8%). unattractive views, air pollution, tick bite risk, traffic negligible. major strength is that it combines participation residents (re)design these designs. While other approaches design, often remains unclear whether resulting represent improvement terms computer process produced clear outcomes regarding benefits A recommendation involve decision makers already initial steps approach.

For children living in one of the 30 megacities around world, green spaces may be far away or tokenistic, with growing accounts youth exhibiting a variety nature deficit disorders. Amidst increasing pressure for more high-density metropolitan areas (HDMAs), international advocacy agencies are calling policy makers and service providers to ensure good quality urban (UGSs) all children. Furthermore, these need purposefully designed cater children’s needs, which continue evolve amidst extreme weather such as heat waves. Recently, pandemics have placed additional constraints on how can travel their time spent outdoors, making this experience even important. This systematic literature review explored roles HDMA-UGSs during pandemics. From 551 studies retrieved curated using PRISMA methodology, 40 papers were subsequently thematically analysed. Four synthesised supporting experiences pandemics, also benefit ‘normal’ day-to-day life’: (1) sustaining growth development, (2) bridging social stratifications, (3) encouraging self-agency, (4) facilitating independent mobility. Thirteen principles distilled support decision enabling outcomes new-build refurbishment projects. The results immediate use who responsible HDMA-UGS planning, procurement, installation, maintenance. UGS role descriptions enable targeted design interventions health well-being, including times constrained outdoor time.

China's Grain to Green Program (GTGP), which is one of the largest payments for ecosystem services (PES) in world, has made significant ecological improvements environment. However, current understanding its outcomes on social-ecological system (SES) remains limited. Therefore, taking South China Karst as an example, a SES resilience evaluation index was constructed followed by exploratory spatial analysis, root mean square error, and Self-Organizing Feature Map clarify spatiotemporal changes relationship resilience, achieve zoning provide restoration measures. The results showed upward trend social from 2000 2020, especially subsystem development. Regional stable, owing slightly declined increased landscape pattern. Spatially, nearly half counties exhibited distribution mismatch resilience. There obvious inverted U-shaped indicating clear threshold effect, constraint eased over time, demonstrating effectiveness program. GTGP played positive role reducing regional trade-off, but this effect limited, reflecting limitations overemphasizing conversion farmland forest grassland. can be divided into four clusters, were key optimization zone system, safety zone, system. Urban green space (UGS) plays a pivotal role in enhancing citizens' living standards, well-being, and overall physical mental health. As urbanization continues to progress, ensuring equitable access UGS becomes increasingly vital addressing the social resource disparities. This paper proposes an innovative approach inform planning updates, placing strong emphasis on distribution. In pursuit of more balanced layout, we present novel recreational demand model that can evaluate citizen's preferences by taking into account population activity levels agglomeration effect. Leveraging point interest (POI) data within geographic information system (GIS) platform, quantitatively analyze these factors. Additionally, propose refined resistance model, accuracy update cost estimation. Applying models, undertake case study Changsha City advance strategies. Our findings reveal disparities not only across different city sectors but also individual spaces, underscoring unequal distribution diverse resources. The proposed models effectively guide incorporation new points urban planning, mitigating challenge inequitable allocation. provides comprehensively quality offers additional valuable insights for improved therefore, contributes fostering just, inclusive sustainable environment.
