The digital economy (DE) is an essential transmitter of CO 2 within the economic system, significantly impacting carbon emissions and high-quality development. Yellow River Basin (YRB) Yangtze Economic Belt (YREB), China’s two most important regions, are critical strategically for achieving dual target. This paper uses panel data from YRB YREB in China 2011 to 2021 adopts fixed mediating effects explore internal impact mechanisms spatial heterogeneity DE emission intensity (CEI) context new quality productivity (NQP). research results indicate that (1) can reduce CEI. A 1% increase reduces CEI by 0.1536% 0.0643% YREB, respectively. (2) affect through such as development level, industrial structure advancement rationalization, energy structure, level technological progress, with having highest impact. (3) has a lower higher overall than YREB. (4) leads regional variations: upstream decreases 0.1424% 0.1956%, respectively, whereas midstream YRB, it 0.1298%, downstream increases 0.0707%. We propose accelerating constructing green modernized system achieve reduction mitigation goals.

High-speed rails (HSRs) are a sustainable approach in many cities. Although some studies recognize that introducing HSR is negatively related to carbon emissions, explorations of the mechanisms underlying this relationship remain scarce. The main purpose study investigate whether reduces emissions through increasing green innovation (GI) and resilience environmental investment (REI). Employing signal theory fault tolerance theory, among others, we propose models illuminate how inaugurating HSRs GI REI. Our proposed central hypothesis REI mediate emission reduction by HSR. In study, select Chinese cities from 20002021 as sample examine our hypotheses via difference-in-differences (DID) model. results show On basis current status China's economic social development, further analyze several critical moderating effects, such digital economy, urban‒rural gap, it resource-based city. 2023, Central Economic Work Conference (CEWC) explicitly "developing economy." We find economy strengthens negative between emissions. also positive correlation introduction GI. Additionally, addition, disparity manifestation uneven development. weakens lag behind other findings suggest that, contrast cities, high-speed increase

The land system is a crucial factor influencing urban low-carbon sustainable development. However, previous research has paid little attention to the effects and mechanisms of national supervision (NLSS) on transformation (ULCT). This study uses China's routine inspection as quasi-natural experiment examines impact NLSS ULCT using panel data from 283 Chinese cities between 2005 2016. finds that significantly promotes ULCT, with series robustness checks supporting this conclusion, showing 1.95% improvement in carbon emission performance under supervision. mainly facilitates by improving use efficiency, upgrading structural service sector, promoting technological progress. Compared eastern cities, southern large non-resource-based more effectively central western, northern, small- medium-sized, resource-based cities. Additionally, contrast high environmental awareness, marketization levels, financial development fiscal pressure, strongly lower levels these factors. Furthermore, exhibits significant positive spatial spillover effect ULCT. In advancing can be synergized smart city pilot policies innovative but not shown synergies policies.
