In recent decades, the increasing threats of global climate change, natural disasters, and epidemics have brought extensive attention to resilience theory. However, most studies focus on physical aspects cities, overlooking significance social perspective. This study addresses this gap by using areas as core spatial unit for analysis. By constructing a scientific indicator system employing set pair analysis method, comprehensively evaluates multidimensional levels Beijing’s central area during its transitional period (1990–2020). The findings reveal that socio-spatial divisions, which emphasize network structure relations dynamic changes in spaces, are more suitable than traditional administrative divisions fundamental units assessment. During period, comprehensive all steadily increased, although capital faced challenges loss slow recovery. Social with unique internal connection, such those based ethnicity, exhibited positive development. Additionally, lower population diversity greater homogeneity tended higher trend development, whereas highly heterogeneous significant constraints These may provide valuable insights cities communities enhance their capacity address future uncertainties assist policymakers making informed governance decisions.

The integrity of habitat quality is a pivotal cornerstone for the sustainable advancement local ecological systems. Rapid urbanization has led to degradation and loss biodiversity, posing severe threats regional sustainability, particularly in extremely vulnerable arid zones. However, systematic research on assessment indicators, limiting factors, driving mechanisms regions notably lacking. This study takes Urumqi, an oasis city China’s region, as case employs InVEST PLUS models conduct dynamic evaluation Urumqi from 2000 2022 against backdrop land use changes. It also simulates under different scenarios year 2035, exploring temporal spatial dynamics its mechanisms. results indicate decline quality. southern mountainous areas significantly superior that surrounding northern Gurbantunggut Desert, it exhibits greater stability. simulation prediction suggest 2020 will be mitigated Ecological Protection scenarios, while most pronounced Business-As-Usual scenarios. distribution changes significant autocorrelation clustering, with these patterns intensifying over time. observed primarily driven by anthropogenic activities, urban expansion, climate change. These factors have collectively contributed alterations landscape, leading conditions. To mitigate further support development, essential implement rigorous protection policies, adopt effective risk management strategies, promote expansion use. actions are crucial stabilizing improving long term.

In the past decade, governance of urban space, in connection with triad, environmental, social, and (ESG), has trended towards greater humanization to achieve sustainability social harmony China. With a focus on case Waliu Community (Zhengzhou), this study investigates evolution environmental its vending zones. As one earliest Chinese communities transition from spatial exclusion inclusion then self-management governance, established two specific zones, Tea City Shenglong. These zones have transformed governing mindset community’s environment. The latest strategy enables low-income groups participate co-governance research methods used range analysis direct observation semi-structured interviews; data information are collected through field notes, official records, designed questionnaires. key indicators utilization efficiency, vendor livelihood, order safety, stakeholder satisfaction. Results demonstrate that effectively optimizes community traffic flow, enhances waste collection fosters consensus collaboration among stakeholders. It is concluded facilitates sustainable production spaces for their users within China’s complex contexts.

In the context of sustainable urban development, elucidating heat island (UHI) dynamics in arid regions is crucial. By thoroughly examining characteristics UHI variations and potential driving factors, cities can implement effective strategies to reduce their impacts on environment public health. However, factors a remain unclear. This study analyzed seasonal diurnal surface (SUHI) using Pearson’s correlation analysis an Optimal Parameters-Based Geographic Detector (OPGD) model 22 Xinjiang, northwest China. The findings reveal that average annual intensity (SUHII) values Xinjiang’s were 1.37 ± 0.86 °C, with SUHII being most pronounced summer (2.44 °C), followed by winter (2.15 spring (0.47 autumn (0.40 °C). Moreover, mean was stronger at nighttime (1.90 °C) compared during daytime (0.84 observed across seasons. disparity Xinjiang more significant (3.91 (0.39 SUHIIs decreasing from winter. also highlights city size, elevation, vegetation cover, form, socio-economic (GDP population density) emerged as key drivers, GDP exerting strongest influence Xinjiang. To mitigate effects, measures like enhancement improving conditions, blue–green space landscape optimization, economic strategy adjustments are recommended.
