Global climate change presents a serious threat to the sustainable development of human society, highlighting urgent need develop effective adaptation strategies mitigate impact climate-related disasters. Campus waterfront green spaces, integral blue-green infrastructure, have been demonstrated facilitate stress recovery. However, in hot and humid regions, severe outdoor thermal conditions may impair students’ mental physical health cognitive function, leading symptoms such as increased stress, anxiety, depression. This study examined influence environments on recovery by selecting three different spaces this climate: Space A (medium water body, sky view factor (SVF) = 0.228), B (large SVF 0.808), C (small 0.292). The volunteers’ comfort restorative benefits these were evaluated via perceived restorativeness scale (PRS), heart rate (HR), electrodermal activity (EDA). We found variations neutral physiological equivalent temperature (PET) across with values 28.1 °C (A), 28.9 (B), 29.1 (C). lowest skin conductance (RSC) at 0.8811 was observed B, suggesting suboptimal recovery, despite higher scores psychological (fascination) 15.23. level region showed negative correlation overall PRS score, “being away” dimension, (RHR). At lightly warm level, where PET from 31.0 35.7 °C, RSC peaked between 1.45 1.53 all spaces. These insights provide guidance for urban designers planners creating space designs that can improve microclimate promote health, achieving health.

Urban parks are vital for providing cultural ecosystem services (CESs) to residents. However, few studies have explored sex-based differences in CES demand, particularly within mountainous urban parks. This study aimed elucidate the perceptions and preferences CESs landscape elements explore their relationship Using value-labeled photographs from an equal number of male female volunteer visits Eling Park Chongqing, China, SolVES model was employed investigate between sex-specific elements. The results showed that males preferred slopes steps, garden facilities, recreation whereas females overlooks offer multiple values, including science ecological education, aesthetic heritage values. Females perceived social relational value at lotus pond Kansheng Tower, inspirational entrance, cliffside path. Males linked fort-like ridges cliffs. associated with steps. Based on findings, recommends enhancing specific landscapes incorporating sex-sensitive design Ultimately, these efforts aim position as key components sustainable development, promoting overall resident well-being.

Abstract Climate change has amplified the effects of extreme heat events (EHEs), exacerbating heat-related morbidity and mortality, particularly in cities due to urban island effect. While a long-term solution mitigating exists via greening, less is known about how implement an greening plan co-designed by community members that addresses health outcomes. To examine current state interventions focused on communities mitigation, we conducted scoping review papers at nexus greening/forestry, outcomes, engagement. We then evaluated 46 eligible using conceptual framework informed literature with following criteria: (1) identification green space/trees for climate change-amplified mitigation quantifiable benefits; (2) association between objective outcomes/health equity intervention design; (3) sustainable ongoing engagement and/or co-creation. found multiple differences study methods. Most lacked outcomes data instead subjective thermal comfort/heat stress measures. Additionally, almost all utilized one-time methods such as surveys or interviews inform recommendations findings. Our findings have useful implications decision-making, further emphasizing importance transdisciplinary cooperation engagement, so equitable, context-dependent can be effectively co-produced city planners, public officials, members.

Optimizing the visual, thermal, and acoustic environments of urban public spaces in severely cold regions can significantly enhance psychological restoration elderly, addressing increasing mental health demands an aging society. Despite its importance, mechanisms, strategies, seasonal effects various environmental variables on remain inadequately studied. This research uses Harbin as a case study, employing field surveys tests to systematically examine elderly’s across different seasons. By integrating stimulus with evaluation model, study investigates impact health. The key findings are: (1) spring environment has most significant positive effect restoration, size η2 = 0.360. (2) A correlation exists between year-round, panoramic green view index winter showing highest (correlation coefficient 0.301, p < 0.01). (3) influence varies notably seasons; contributes significantly, R2 17.03%, while visual factors dominate summer. (4) Conditional probability analysis reveals proposing season-specific optimization strategies. Based these findings, paper presents model for optimizing space regions, aiming maximize elderly by tailoring their needs.
