Abstract In recent years, water pollution has posed a serious threat to aquatic organisms and humans. Advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) based on activated peroxymonosulfate (PMS) show high oxidation, good selectivity, wide pH range no secondary in the removal of organic pollutants water. Carbon‐based materials are emerging green catalysts that can effectively activate persulfates generate radical non‐radical active species degrade pollutants. Compared with transition metal catalysts, carbon‐based widely used SR‐AOPs because their low cost, non‐toxicity, acid alkali resistance, large specific surface area, scalable charge, which be for selective control This paper mainly presents several PMS, including raw carbon modified (heteroatom‐doped metal‐doped), analyzes summarizes mechanism activating PMS by discusses influencing factors (temperature, pH, concentration, catalyst inorganic anions, cations dissolved oxygen) activation process. Finally, future challenges prospects also presented.
