The biogas residue (BR) from the anaerobic digestion of sludge poses a threat to environment due presence toxic and hazardous substances. Furthermore, emerging contaminants, such as bisphenol A (BPA), are widespread in domestic industrial wastewater, requiring efficient sustainable treatment technologies. In this study, BR-based biochar was pyrolyzed urea-modified BR employed catalyst activate peroxymonosulfate (PMS) for BPA degradation. With at 750 °C catalyst, 20 mg/L completely removed. Free radical detection confirmed that hydroxyl (•OH) sulfate (•SO4−) generation decreased with increase reuse times. X-ray photoelectron spectra showed deactivation mainly resulted -COOH C-OH group loss, which acted active sites generating •OH •SO4−, HCl or NaOH regeneration catalysts could recover oxygen-containing functional groups, boosting removal 54.7% 91.5% 100%, respectively. Thermal only enlarge catalyst’s specific surface area (SSA) adsorption capacity, but might not restore free capability. This research offered theoretical basis utilization provided reference reusing wastewater treatment.

A high-performance Fe-N co-doped carbon-based catalyst was prepared to activate PMS by a one-step pyrolysis using ferbam, melamine and sucrose. The best Fe-N/C exhibited high catalytic activity against at an ultra-low dosage (50 mg L-1), the TC decomposition rate reached 92.3% within 30 min. results demonstrated that graphite N, pyridine Fe0 Fe3C were main active substances for catalyzing PMS. Free radical quenching analysis EPR experiments further proved O2˙- served as oxygen species. Finally, environmental hazard of intermediate product studied ECOSAR system.
