Polychlorinated naphthalenes (PCNs) are a new type of persistent organic pollutant (POP) characterized by persistence, bioaccumulation, dioxin-like toxicity, and long-range atmospheric transport. Focusing on one PCN, monochlorinated (CN-1, CN-2), this study aimed to examine their photodegradation in the environment. In work, CN-1 CN-2 were employed as model pollutants investigate process under UV-C irradiation. Factors like pH, initial concentrations CN-1, inorganic anions investigated. Next, roles hydroxyl radicals (•OH), superoxide anion (O2•−), singlet oxygen (1O2) discussed proposed via theory computation. The results show that follows pseudo-first-order kinetics. Acidic conditions promote while effects pH not remarkable. Cl−, NO3−, SO32− accelerate whereas effect SO42− CO32− is significant. Additionally, contributions •OH O2•− 20.47% 38.80%, while, for CN-2, contribution 16.40% 16.80%, respectively. Moreover, 1O2 15.7%. Based DFT calculations, C4 C6 benzene ring prioritized attack sites •OH, C2 C9 sites.

Abstract BACKGROUND Piezoelectric catalysis using perovskite‐type barium titanate (BaTiO 3 ) has been applied to the decomposition of refractory organic pollutants through piezoelectric catalytic persulfate (PS). Nevertheless, challenges such as a limited specific surface area, poor electrical conductivity and tendency towards agglomeration in BaTiO necessitate exploration novel methods enhance its efficiency. RESULTS Sludge carbon (SC) from sewage treatment was utilized develop material /SC). The area /SC reached 67.92 m 2 g −1 , which is nine times larger than that alone. inclusion SC composite enhanced number active sites contributed higher degree graphitization, improved conductivity, provided more stable structure for /SC. This capable harvesting mechanical vibration energy ultrasound, thereby generating properties activating PS achieve 93% ratio enrofloxacin (ENR) water within 80 min. activation by piezocatalysis led production reactive oxygen species (ROS), • OH SO 4 −• . These ROS attack quinolone ring ENR, susceptible cleavage, resulting ENR into intermediates lower toxicity.
