Water pollution, resulting from industrial effluents, agricultural runoff, and pharmaceutical residues, poses serious threats to ecosystems human health, highlighting the need for innovative approaches effective remediation, particularly non-biodegradable emerging pollutants. This research work explores influence of shape-controlled nanocrystalline titanium dioxide (TiO2 NC), synthesized by a simple hydrothermal method, on photodegradation efficiency three different classes environmental pollutants: phenol, pesticides (methomyl), drugs (sodium diclofenac). Experiments were conducted assess water matrix treatment using ultrapure stormwater (basic) collected an urban drainage system as matrices. The size shape nano-cuboids accurately controlled during synthesis their impact photoactivity selectivity. Regarding total organic carbon removal TiO2 in basic environments, results remarkable. truncated bipyramids 200–250 °C temperature range showed enhanced photocatalytic when compared alternative formulations. Diclofenac, methomyl, phenol fully mineralized stormwater. nano-cuboids/nano-bipyramids demonstrated better selectivity comparison irregular nanoparticles. differences are explained terms charge carrier separation trapping crystal facets.
