Abstract

Skin-to-skin care (SSC) is essential, can help to prevent separation of parents and the neonate in NICU, should be a standard practice. It safely integrated into routine preterm neonates, those who require surgery, all levels intensive care. Years experience with provision SSC our NICU influenced approach resulted practice guidelines for safe SSC. In this article, we present clinical practical that support closeness between ensure use these practices neonates NICU.

Background and Objectives: The purpose of the study is to assess parental experiences therapeutic hypothermia for moderate severe hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy with goal improving local clinical practice guidelines fostering family-integrated care in neonates encephalopathy. Methods: This single-center retrospective cross-sectional included their parents registered Swiss National Asphyxia Cooling Register between 2011 2021. Based on a literature review, an anonymous survey was developed conducted using online tool. Descriptive statistics were used analyze results. Results: overall response rate this 64% (46/72). Sufficient information about reported by 78% (36/46) sufficient process 87% (40/46) parents. majority indicated need for, at least satisfactory perception of, professional (91%; 42/46) emotional (87%; 40/46) support. To describe parents' past and present experiences of their newborn infant's therapeutic hypothermia (TH) treatment after perinatal asphyxia 10-13 years the event.Newborn infants are treated with TH following to improve neurodevelopmental outcomes.A qualitative descriptive design using focus groups (FGs).Twenty one parents 15 between 2007 2009 participated in five FGs. The FGs were transcribed verbatim analysed framework approach. SRQR checklist was followed for study reporting.Two main categories identified: hardships reliefs during struggles everyday life. Both include three subcategories, first: (1) concern gratitude unrecognized treatment, (2) insufficiency information proposed participation (3) NICU nurses instilled security hope. second subcategories: unprocessed later challenges at school existential psychological life.TH newborns affected psychologically not only but lasted months later. Information communication health care professionals management inefficient inadequate. concerns could be prevented by an improved identification understanding problems needs families before discharge.Through more personalized efficient preparation nursing staff discharge, many worries reduced. Check-up psychosocial support discharge offering counselling should become routine. Also, Well-Baby Clinics receive knowledge about children experience.Participation limited data provided through interviews.
