Sleep is essential to human health, yet 27% of the global population suffers from sleep issues, which often lead fatigue, depression, and impaired cognitive function. While pharmacological treatments exist, non-pharmacological approaches like music therapy have shown promise in enhancing quality. This review, analyzing 27 studies with various experimental paradigms, confirms that significantly improves subjective quality, largely by alleviating anxiety regulating mood through perceptual pathways. However, effects on objective measures remain inconclusive, suggesting individual differences may play a significant role. Future research should focus refining intervention designs integrate both assessments better elucidate physiological psychological mechanisms therapy. Key recommendations include personalized selection, development age-appropriate interventions, minimization external interferences maximize therapeutic outcomes. Additionally, incorporating variables status, lifestyle, environmental factors offer more comprehensive understanding therapy's long-term adaptability effectiveness for diverse populations. review offers critical directions practical support future applications health.

Sleep quality in adult inpatients is frequently and severely disturbed by various factors such as noise, pain, unfamiliar surroundings, which can impair disease recovery. Acupressure widely used to improve sleep hospitalized patients, but its overall effectiveness unclear. This meta-analysis aims analyze the efficacy of acupressure therapy on parameters inpatients. Eight electronic databases were searched for randomized controlled trials published before April 2024. Two researchers independently screened, assessed, extracted data from included studies. A total 41 studies involving 3680 subjects included. The showed a significant difference between control groups (SMD = -1.58, 95% CI [-1.85, -1.31]), time 1.12, [0.40, 1.83]), efficiency 0.90, [0.29, 1.52]), onset latency -0.73, [-1.14, -0.33]), wake after -1.32, [-2.55, -0.09]). meta-regression results suggested that number sessions daily duration each session influencing heterogeneity. an effective intervention

Hospitalized patients often experience disturbed sleep, affecting general health. While some randomized studies have assessed individual non-pharmacological interventions, none evaluated approaches that combine multiple strategies to improve sleep. This study aimed assess the effects of a multicomponent sleep-enhancing protocol in hospitalized medical patients. The WEsleep cluster controlled trial was conducted between July 2023 and March 2024 across six departments large Dutch academic hospital. Adult who were able provide informed consent expected stay at least two nights eligible for inclusion. intervention included delaying early morning nursing rounds, training healthcare professionals, optimizing sleep-disturbing medication timing, offering earplugs eye masks, conducting evening sleep rounds. primary outcome quality on second night, with Richards-Campbell Sleep Questionnaire (RCSQ). Rates of depression, burnout, and anxiety among nurses are high. Improving sleep quality may mitigate psychological distress, but research on effective interventions for is limited. This pilot study explored the preliminary effects Somni© kit sleep, stress, health using continuous physiologic data from Oura ring©. A prospective trial was conducted with 25 nurses. Participants wore ring© eight weeks to collect heart rate variability (HRV) sleep. The kit, containing evidence-based aids, introduced 4-8. completed surveys at baseline, 4, 8 assess quality, depressive symptoms. Data were analyzed paired t-tests linear mixed-effect models. sample predominantly White (64%), non-Hispanic (88%), female (84%). Lavender spray white noise machines most frequently used aids. Self-reported latency significantly decreased (p = 0.03), a trend toward improved quality. No significant changes observed in metrics or Effect sizes ranged moderate small, greatest improvement latency. showed potential improving self-reported latency, especially through non-pharmacologic interventions. While results mixed, this supports feasibility wearable devices track stress Future should include larger samples investigate long-term nurses' mental health.
