Background An increasing body of evidence suggests a profound interrelation between the microbiome and sleep-related concerns. Nevertheless, current observational studies can merely establish their correlation, leaving causality unexplored. Study objectives To ascertain whether specific gut microbiota are causally linked to seven characteristics propose potential strategies for insomnia prevention. Methods The study employed an extensive dataset genetic variations from MiBioGen alliance, encompassing 18,340 individuals. Taxonomic classification was conducted, identifying 131 genera 196 bacterial taxa analysis. Sleep-related phenotype (SRP) data were sourced IEU OpenGWAS project, covering traits such as insomnia, chronotype, snoring. Instrumental variables (IVs) selected based on criteria, including locus-wide significance, linkage disequilibrium calculations, allele frequency thresholds. Statistical methods explore causal relationships, inverse variance weighted (IVW), MR-Egger, median, Mode. Sensitivity analyses, pleiotropy assessments, Bonferroni corrections ensured result validity. Reverse analysis adherence STROBE-MR guidelines conducted bolster study’s rigor. Results Bidirectional Mendelian randomization (MR) reveals causative interplay phenotypes. Notably, outcomes rigorously Bonferroni-corrected examination illuminate correlations amid precise compositions intestinal slumber-associated parameters. Elevated abundance within taxonomic ranks class Negativicutes order Selenomonadales markedly associated with heightened susceptibility severe (OR = 1.03, 95% CI: 1.02–1.05, p 0.0001). Conversely, augmented representation phylum Lentisphaerae stands in concord protracted sleep duration 1.02, 1.01–1.04, 0.0005). Furthermore, exposure genus Senegalimassilia exhibits ameliorate manifestation snoring symptoms 0.98, 0.96–0.99, Conclusion This has unveiled relationship SRPs, bestowing significant latent value upon future endeavors both foundational research clinical therapy.

COVID-19 has led to reports of fatigue and sleep problems. Brain function changes underlying problems (SP) post-COVID-19 are unclear. This study investigated SP-related brain functional connectivity (FC) alterations. Fifty-five survivors with SP (COVID_SP) 33 without (COVID_NSP), matched for demographics, completed PSQI underwent rs-fMRI at baseline 2-month follow-up. Correlations between FC clinical data were analyzed by Pearson correlation analysis Gaussian random field (GRF) correction. The repeated-measures variance (R-M ANOVA) was explore the interaction time. At baseline, COVID_SP exhibited elevated FC: right precentral gyrus (PrG) left lateral occipital cortex (LOcC)/right PrG, inferior parietal lobule (IPL) superior frontal (SFG), hippocampus (IFG). Higher SFG correlated scores. follow-up, decreased implicated in emotion regulation, executive function, memory; increased semantics, attention, auditory-visual processing. these regions scores PSQI, GAD, PHQ. Repeated-Measures Analysis Variance revealed a significant time effect various scales. Moreover, PrG as well that IPL also discovered effect. provides insight into associated after COVID-19. Abstract Chronic insomnia disorder (simplified in this document as insomnia) is an increasingly common clinical condition society and a frequent complaint at the offices of different areas health practice (particularly Medicine Psychology). This scenario has been accompanied by significant evolution treatment, well challenges approaching patients appropriately way. guideline, coordinated Brazilian Sleep Association counting on active participation various specialists area, encompasses update diagnosis treatment adults. To end, it followed structured methodology. Topics interest related to were written based theoretical framework, evidence literature, professional experience. As for topics insomnia, series questions developed PICO acronym (P – Patient, problem, or population; I Intervention; C Comparison, control, comparator; O Outcome). The work groups defined eligible options within each these parameters. Regarding pharmacological interventions, only ones currently available Brazil possibly becoming upcoming years considered eligible. Systematic reviews conducted help prepare texts define level intervention. final result objective practical providing recommendations with best scientific support professionals involved management insomnia.

Background and Objectives: Brain fog, characterized by cognitive difficulties such as memory impairment, lack of focus, mental fatigue, is a common symptom reported during recovery from COVID-19, particularly in long COVID cases. This study explores potential triggers sleep quality, mood, gastrointestinal health examines the link between adherence to MIND diet brain fog severity. Materials Methods: A cross-sectional was conducted 1 July 15 December 2022. The questionnaire assessed symptoms, dietary habits, symptoms. Linear regression analysis examined relationships demographic factors, adherence, Results: Fog Scale (BFS) scores were significantly higher individuals who had COVID-19 (p < 0.05) even those with reinfection. Women BFS Severity Score (BFSS), Diet, Gastrointestinal Symptom Rating (GSRS), Brief Mood Introspection (BMIS) Pleasant-Unpleasant 0.05). BFSS positively correlated GSRS 0.05), while no correlation found adherence. negative observed Sleep Quality (SQS) but this not significant = 0.367). GSRS, Dimension, Arousal-Calm Dimension predictors (R 0.599, R2 0.358, p 0.01). Conclusions: identifies being female risk factor for women reporting scores. While quality showed relationship model, suggesting that other mood may play more dominant role. However, These findings suggest addressing be key managing COVID.

Abstract Insomnia is defined as difficulty initiating and/or maintaining sleep in the context of adequate opportunity and daytime consequences. In some cases, it presents a subclinical symptom or experience, other cases an acute chronic insomnia disorder. The definitions diagnostic criteria are reviewed, endotypes/subtypes discussed. Risk factors for discussed, including demographics factors. Models etiology pathophysiology with focus on 3P model its variants. Pathophysiology discussed hyperarousal mechanisms, polysomnographic features, neurophysiological correlates, genetic Consequences psychological, neurological, health-related outcomes. Finally, treatment modalities reviewed.
