Anticipating in vitro gametogenesis: Hopes and concerns for IVG among diverse stakeholders

In vitro gametogenesis (IVG), the reconstitution of germ cell development in vitro, is an emerging stem cell-based technology with profound implications for reproductive science. Despite researchers' long-term goals future clinical applications, little currently known about views IVG held by stakeholders potentially most affected its introduction humans. We conducted focus groups and interviews 80 individuals lived experience infertility and/or LGBTQ+ family formation US, two intersecting potential users. Respondents expressed hope that would lead to higher success than current assisted (ART), alleviate suffering associated ART use, promote greater social inclusion, while expressing concerns predominantly framed terms equity safety. These findings underscore importance sustained engagement relevant anticipate research translation.
