Abstract An estimated 258 million tons of plastic enter the soil annually. Joining persistent types microplastic (MP), there will be an increasing demand for biodegradable plastics. There are still many unknowns about pollution by either type, and one large gap is fate composition dissolved organic matter (DOM) released from MPs as well how they interact with microbiomes in agricultural systems. In this study, polyethylene MPs, photoaged to different degrees, virgin polylactic acid were added at levels incubated 100 days address knowledge gap. We find that, upon MP addition, labile components low aromaticity degraded transformed, resulting increased oxidation degree, reduced molecular diversity, changed nitrogen sulfur contents DOM. Terephthalate, acetate, oxalate, L-lactate DOM 4-nitrophenol, propanoate, nitrate major molecules available microbiomes. The bacteria involved metabolism mainly concentrated Proteobacteria, Actinobacteriota, Bacteroidota, fungi Ascomycota Basidiomycota. Our study provides in-depth understanding microbial transformation its effects evolution soils.

Abstract Revealing the mechanisms underlying soil microbial community assembly is a fundamental objective in molecular ecology. However, despite increasing body of research on overall mechanisms, our understanding subcommunity for different prokaryotic and fungal taxa remains limited. Here, soils were collected from more than 100 sites across southwestern China. Based amplicon high‐throughput sequencing iCAMP analysis, we determined various taxa. The results showed that dispersal limitation homogenous selection primary drivers this region. highly variable. For instance, contribution to Crenarchaeota was 70%, but it only around 10% Actinomycetes, Gemmatimonadetes Planctomycetes. subcommunities including with higher occurrence frequencies, average relative abundance network degrees, as well wider niches tended be influenced by homogenizing drift, less affected heterogeneous limitation. also varied substantially among functional guilds. Notably, diazotrophs, nitrifiers, saprotrophs some pathogens predominantly controlled selection, while denitrifiers mainly stochastic processes such drift. These findings provide novel insights into diversity maintenance analysis pipeline holds significant value future research.

Bioaugmented Daqu based on functional strains/microbiota inoculating improved the quality and yield of Baijiu, but underlying mechanism remains unclear due to lack ecological insights into complex dynamic process. Hence, three kinds were compared for fermentation, physicochemical parameters, community succession flavor profile in fermented grains (Zaopei). Compared with traditional Daqu, both two bioaugmented namely space fortified sustained higher biodiversity by delaying bacterial accelerating that fungal one, Lactobacillus Pichia biomarkers rate. Ecological analysis indicated communities was more sensitive environmental which lactic acid closely related its assembly pattern niche breadth. In addition, contributed achieving “ethyl hexanoate-increasing” lactate-decreasing”, could be attributed enhanced interspecies interactions relieving survival pressure producers, such as Kroppenstedtia, Saccharopolyspora, Kazachstania. These results elucidate regulating metabolism highlight vital role rate, will guide directional regulation Baijiu fermentation future.
