To obtain good productive performance, sows have different nutrition requirements at gestation periods. However, in stalls, conventional feeders large relative errors, management is difficult because of the numbers sows, and there are shortcomings feeding precision data management. In order to achieve enhance control multiple for gestating housed this study was carried out investigate a system that could be controlled levels. This consisted an electronic sow feeder (ESF), controller area network (CAN), personal digital assistant (PDA), central controller, Internet Things platform (IoTP). The results experiment showed errors 60 ESFs delivering feed were within ±2.94%, coefficient variation less than 1.84%. When received signal strength indicator (RSSI) ranged from −80 dbm −70 dbm, packet loss rate PDA 3.425%. RSSI greater no observed, average response time 556.05 ms. IoTP performance bottleneck when number concurrent threads 1700. These experimental indicated not only highly accurate feed, but also reliable transmission information, therefore met production intensive house.

Insects are a potential source of protein for direct human consumption or indirectly in processed foods. The research examined consumer perceptions and beliefs regarding the insects food products containing insect proteins. study aimed to identify about consumption, assess perception added proteins, gain deeper understanding role neophobia accepting as an alternative protein. data were collected 2023 through cross-sectional quantitative online survey group that was representative consumers by age, gender, region sample (n = 1000) who responsible purchasing decisions their households. While many respondents viewed foods enriched with innovative environmentally friendly, others found idea consuming repulsive expressed concerns allergic reactions. Food determining factor respondents’ Respondents more inclined consume rather than visibly identifiable insects. results highlight need targeted marketing strategies product development approaches align varied expectations rapidly expanding insect-based market.

This study explores the potential of Tenebrio molitor protein hydrolysates as functional food ingredients, evaluating their bioactivity and consumer acceptance incorporation edible insects into across Poland Spain. By aligning technical advancements with preferences, this research bridges gap between laboratory innovation market feasibility, contributing to development sustainable foods. The optimized process enzyme hydrolysis using serine protease from Cucurbita ficifolia, thereby enhancing DPPH scavenging capacity increased 3.15 ± 0.53 8.17 0.62 µM Trolox/mL ABTS decolorization 4.29 0.01 10.29 after 5 h hydrolysis. Consumer surveys incorporating Food Neophobia, Insect Phobia, Entomophagy Scales revealed demographic cultural influences on entomophagy acceptance. Among respondents, 27.1% in 25.7% Spain had previously consumed insect-based products, while Polish participants showed a higher willingness adopt insect-enriched confirmed that enhances antioxidant activity T. factors significantly influence

High-protein snacks appeal to consumers seeking increase the protein intake in their diet. The high environmental impact of conventional sources is urging need explore more sustainable alternatives such as edible insects. In this study, willingness pay for yogurt enriched with insect was estimated. It also determined effect socio-demographics and extrinsic product attributes on purchase decision expenditure using Heckman sample selection model. Data collected through an online survey from 1909 Catalonia, Spain Qualtrics´ consumer panel. results showed that 55.7% participants were willing average premium price computed 0.36€ or 24% extra compared yogurt. Findings revealed probability purchasing increases younger adults, male consumers, residing rural areas, having a child member family unit, active employment situation. Moreover, when importance local ecological food higher, while lower attribute. study offer producers valuable insights into consumers' novel snacks.

The rising global demand for protein, driven by population growth, urbanization, economic development, and climate change, underscores the need sustainable alternative protein sources. Edible insects have emerged as a viable solution to enhance foodfeed nutritional security while contributing waste management. This study reviews 128 peer-reviewed publications assess consumer preferences willingness pay (WTP) edible their derivatives. Findings reveal that studies predominantly focus on Europe insect-based foods, with limited research feeds derived products. Consumers in Africa, Asia, Latin America show higher acceptance of food compared those Western nations, where psychological barriers such neophobia, disgust, awareness hinder adoption. WTP foods varies, some consumers willing premium others expect lower prices than conventional options. Integrating into feed ssytems requires public education, innovative marketing, scaling up production.

Decisions about what we consume have environmental repercussions and, therefore, implications for future generations. Consumers' ability to pay more sustainable food stimulates production strategies, like circular agriculture, aiding the European Green Deal's system. With aim of analysing preferences and willingness consumers labelled as obtained by systems in terms reduced greenhouse gas emissions, optimisation soil nutrients, a survey with 5591 participants from Spain, Poland, Italy, Hungary, Croatia, Belgium was conducted. The designed analyse three products (pork meat, milk, bread) through different (circular, conventional, organic) using discrete choice experiment methodology. included questions consumers' attitudes consumption behaviour, identify their influence over regarding products. Results revealed that 27% preferred food, unveiling potential market. This preference highlighted effect attitudes. Those who actively engaged recycling were prone choose shown tendency go less conventional options. WTP consistently higher milk compared across all studied countries. However, pork bread, this greater reported exclusively Spain Croatia. It suggested sectors involved should standardise labels create educational programmes problems generated unsustainable consumption, promote online version contains supplementary material available at 10.1186/s40100-025-00350-0.

Various innovative fish feeds were tested for the production of koi carp in a recirculating aquaculture system, considering insect meal (Acheta domestica) as main protein source and phytogenic additives (Curcuma longa—turmeric Beta vulgaris—beetroot) antioxidants, spirit sustainable practice. The growth performance, metabolic rate (respirometry), hematological profile, blood biochemical indicators, oxidative stress determined, using according to following experimental design: CF—commercial feed, IF—innovative feed based on cricket meal, BIF—innovative (IF) with beetroot, TIF—innovative turmeric. TIF recorded best rate. lowest values lipid peroxidation (MDA), standard (SMR), routine (RMR) registered IF variants. A reduction MDA was noted, correlated decrease regarding SMR RMR TIF. An intensification amylase BIF. Compared CF, it seems that IF, TIF, BIF had beneficial effect by reducing cholesterol, HDL alanine aminotransferase, triglycerides, urea increasing concentration calcium hormone plasma.
