Abstract Green aquaculture refers to emerging sustainable practices that minimize environmental impact and optimize efficiency in aquatic food production. It aligns with broader agriculture goals, focusing on eco-friendly methods, resource efficiency, responsible management of ecosystems. This paper presents the influence urban environments supporting enhancing critical aspects green aquaculture, a particular emphasis conservation. Urban unique challenges opportunities, especially densely populated areas, such as Jakarta, where preservation are critical. Integrating into settings potentially reduce footprint production while local security economic growth. In addition conservation, this explore Environmental Impact Assessment (EAI) methodology analysing feasibility study aqua culture particularly Jakarta. The found Jakarta’s project involves multifaceted approach addresses air quality, flood risks, water pollution. By systematically assessing these factors implementing appropriate mitigation strategies, can be developed sustainably, contributing positively environment community minimizing adverse impacts.

ABSTRACT Aquaculture emerges as a crucial solution for addressing the global food shortage of an estimated 10 billion people by 2050. In Türkiye, aquaculture plays significant role in supporting economy and ensuring security. Over past two decades, finfish production Türkiye surged from 61,163 to 547,505 t, generating $1.7 export revenue across over 100 countries. This growth has been driven technological advancements, robust governmental support, increasing demand products. However, sector also faces persistent challenges, including need enhance sustainability, mitigate ecological impacts, manage finite resources. As Europe's leading fish producer, Turkish must continue innovate expand meet demands growing population. Despite expanding research on aquaculture, there is no comprehensive review that consolidates both scientific progress sectoral developments. study fills void combining bibliometric analysis 1958 publications 1983 2023 with in‐depth evaluation, providing holistic understanding sector. The highlights key areas, trends, knowledge gaps, while overview examines dynamics feed industry, innovations, economic factors. It addresses challenges such climate change reliance imported ingredients, disease issues, discussing potential avenues sustainable through innovation, policy reforms, integration. serves valuable resource researchers, policymakers, industry stakeholders, offering insights into current state future directions Türkiye.

Biofloc technology (BFT) systems heavily rely on microbiota to mitigate ammonia toxicity and manage essential nutrient cycling. Understanding the diversity functional role of within BFT-applied aquaculture is crucial for ensuring sustainable operations. Though some studies exist BFT microbiota, research microbial differences in Japanese eel still limited, hindering wider application systems. In this study, we analyzed characteristics water quality factors (Anguilla japonica) breeding water, applying system. Using a metabarcoding approach, community structure aquatic were compared between continuous flow (CF) The pH was significantly higher CF while total nitrogen (TAN) nitrite (NO2−-N) water. Alpha systems, it correlated with TAN. both phyla Proteobacteria Bacteroidota found be most abundant. diverse array bacterial taxa, including BFT-specific clades, consistently present, more variable contained fewer specific taxa. addition, functions related nitrate reduction, sulfur compound oxidation, chitinolysis abundant than These findings highlight which can inform future use fish farming.

Aquaculture is one of the key economic activities to reduce food shortages worldwide. Water recirculation systems using pumps are crucial maintain oxygenation and water quality, consuming about 35% total energy in this activity. This research proposes a multiple linear regression mathematical model optimize intensive shrimp aquaculture by reducing consumption minimizing changes ponds. The proposed optimizing operation pumping systems, allowing us significantly turnover without compromising dissolved oxygen levels as function variables such volume, biomass, solar radiation (0–1200 W/m2), temperature (20 °C–32 °C), phytoplankton (0–1,000,000 cells/ml), zooplankton (0–500,000 wind speed (0–15 m/s). These integrated into model, managing explain 94.02% variation oxygen, with an R2 92.9%, which adjusts system conditions real time, impact environmental fluctuations on quality. leads estimated annual savings 106,397.5 kWh, 663.8 MWh. contributes development approach that not only improves prediction, but also minimizes use resources, improving sustainability profitability farming robust tool maximizes operational efficiency aquaculture, particularly where management critical.
