Purpose This study aims to identify the theoretical linkage between work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WRMSDs) and social sustainability increase awareness of WRMSDs’ sustainability-inhibiting features preventive strategies. Design/methodology/approach qualitative research adopts a systematic literature review (SLR) approach. Adhering Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews Meta-analyses (PRISMA) guidelines, 303 documents from Scopus database (2003–2024) were analysed using bibliometric technique content analysis. Findings The identified key metrics such as top journals, most recent authors publications. trend shows that citations initially progressed, then stagnated but later rose, recently, have risen independently citations. Only six journals contribute (43 85% overall citations; 23 73% publications), 13 are influential. analysis revealed 80% studies centred on risk assessment (RA) with only 5% health impact (HAI). Research limitations/implications findings limited period. Social implications WRMSD is injurious well-being, impairs performance, impacts society through reduced productivity, medication use time off work. Therefore, proactive strategies must be implemented minimise its occurrence severity. Originality/value study’s novelty lies in text mining by raising inhibiting so occupational ill minimised, project workers’ well-being enhanced, industry’s raised.

Ergonomic risk assessment is critical for identifying working posture hazardous to the health of construction workers. Work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) are predominant non-fatal injuries in industry owing manual handling activities and poor conditions. However, there a lack scientific synopsis aiming better understand emerging research focus this field. To fill gap, study performed scientometric evaluation bibliometric data on ergonomic from Web Science database using VOSviewer software. The purpose analyze co-occurrence network keywords, co-authorship network, most active countries, sources publication. results indicate that related has fluctuating growth, peaking 2020 with significant advancements USA, China, Canada. WMSDs, factors, workers, ergonomics hot topics Furthermore, gaps previous studies suggestions future have been provided bridge knowledge gap. We believe review provides useful reference points early-stage researchers as well beneficial in-depth information experienced practitioners scholars industry.

In the era of Industry 4.0, marked by integration digitization, automation, and data synthesis, emerging technologies play a vital role in mitigating ergonomic hazards within construction work environments. This study investigates research trends encompassing adoption three categories technologies—(1) wearable sensors; (2) extended reality, which combines virtual reality (VR), augmented (AR), mixed (MR); (3) exoskeletons robotics—as means to mitigate risk occupational nonfatal injuries industry. Employing bibliometric scientometric analyses, quantitative examination relationship literature is performed. From Scopus database, 347 papers were selected from pool 1603 publications 2018 2022. The conducted analyses encompass annual publication trends, keyword co-occurrence analysis, journal-source author country analysis using VOSviewer (version 1.6.19) bibliometrix software 4.1.3). findings highlight crucial advanced enhancing safety health management Wearable sensors, for example, offer promising capabilities real-time monitoring, potentially reducing onsite alerting workers hazards. Extended especially VR, can enhance effectiveness safety-training education simulating realistic scenarios while minimizing exposures hazardous conditions that may face challenges. Furthermore, robotics has potential reduce physical strain injury risks among workers, particularly physically demanding tasks. review paper identifies current applying industry, also suggesting future directions this dynamic field.
