Although positive childhood experiences (PCEs) may serve as protective factors against the negative consequences of adversity, they have been less extensively studied. However, more recently, there has a growing interest in understanding role these experiences. This systematic review aims to address this research gap by systematizing existing literature on PCEs and examining their relationship with both outcomes. A comprehensive search databases such B-On, PsycINFO, PubMed, SCOPUS, Scielo identified 87 studies that met inclusion criteria. Different employed various designs samples investigate between adult The findings suggest higher levels are consistently associated better mental health outcomes, decreased depressive symptoms, anxiety, suicidal behaviors, well improved psychosocial well-being, including reduced perceived stress increased life satisfaction. Conflicting results were found for behavioral physical health, stressful events, parenting family functioning. In addition, interaction effect adverse (ACEs) adulthood is inconsistent. ACEs appear be independent sets often coexist, frequently not moderating adversity More diverse needed understand PCEs.

Childhood and adolescence are crucial stages of life, characterized by significant changes that profoundly influence overall development. While positive childhood experiences (PCEs) can help mitigate the effects adverse events during these formative years, they have not been as thoroughly researched. Then, this systematic review aims to address gap organizing existing literature on PCEs examining their impact both negative outcomes in children adolescents. A search through databases such B-On, PsycINFO, PubMed, SCOPUS, Scielo, well supplementary searches, identified 30 studies met inclusion criteria. The results indicate most were published last 4 primarily USA, focused community populations with mixed samples. In addition, reveal among adolescents, higher levels associated better mental health (e.g., reduced depressive symptoms, anxiety, self-harm, substance use, suicidal ideation), improved psychosocial enhanced adult functioning future orientation), academic achievement absenteeism fewer difficulties), some improvements physical chronic pain). However, relationship between behavioral showed results. Strengthening efforts promote resources support child adolescent resilience is crucial. Further research involving diverse samples needed gain a deeper understanding role PCEs.

Abstract Objectives To examine the relationships between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and developing sarcopenia in older adults modifying effects of active social participation. Methods This prospective cohort study used survey data from China Health Retirement Longitudinal Study, including baseline surveys 2011, follow-up 2013, 2015, information on ACEs 2014 Life History Survey. Information concerning 10 ACEs, five threat-related deprivation-related before 17 years age was obtained by questionnaires through face-to-face interviews. Sarcopenia status assessed according to Asian Working Group for 2019 algorithm, consisted low muscle mass, strength, or poor physical performance. The relationship participation, evaluated using Cox proportional hazard regression models. Results population comprised 6859 main analyses. Having experienced ≥ 3 led an increased 31% risk (hazard ratio [HR]:1.31, 95% confidence interval [CI]:1.10–1.56). Participants having 2 (HR:1.22, 95%CI:1.04–1.43) 95%CI:1.02–1.46) had a 22% higher sarcopenia. Active participation significantly modified association (p < 0.05), especially Conclusions were associated with development sarcopenia; however, effect. These findings provide insights early identification vulnerable groups, advance intervention timing, highlight benefits promoting among individuals who have ACEs.

Background Older people in low- and middle-income countries are more susceptible to the impact of childhood experiences. This study comprehensively examines how socioeconomic status (SES) adult SES collectively influence late-life healthy longevity from a life course perspective, providing insights for shaping health-related policies. Methods analyzed data Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey (1998–2018) with 37,264 individuals aged 65 above. Using R software, we applied continuous-time multi-state models incorporating Rockwood frailty index 38 indicators assess participants’ health. Childhood or trajectories were core explanatory variables, while age gender controlled. Multinomial regression estimated annual transition probabilities between different states, table method calculated total frailty-specific expectancy (LE). Results (1) Social mobility among older China showed an upward trend adulthood. (2) Transition robust-frailty, robust-dead, frailty-dead increased age, frailty-robust decreased. LE varied across (low, medium, high) life-course trajectory categories (low-low, low-medium, low-high, medium-low, medium-medium, medium-high, high-low, high-medium, high-high), decreasing sequentially categories, increasing categories. Total LE, robust proportion decreased (3) Women had higher incidence, but lower recovery rate, mortality risk, compared men. Conclusion Favorable lifelong accumulation advantages protect against morbidity, improve reduce increase proportion. High has stronger protective effect than high SES, indicating lasting conditions on longevity. Systematic interventions education, food supply, medical accessibility children impoverished families crucial.

This study examines whether the experience of being bullied at school has a long-term impact on three health outcomes in adulthood Japan: subjective health, mental and activity restriction due to conditions. We employed random effects model Karlson-Holm-Breen method decompose total effect inequality into direct an indirect working through intervening factors including education, marriage, economic well-being, social networks. used Japanese Life Course Panel Surveys 2007-2020 (waves 1-14), nationally representative panel data set that includes 2,260 male 2,608 female respondents. The results demonstrate for both men women, was strong significant. Bullying experiences childhood had adulthood, regardless background mediating victimization increased risk poor low scores, Intervening (especially well-being friendship) mediated association between bullying all outcomes, but their contributions were modest. Policy measures not only prevent during also alleviate its negative consequences should be considered help people who have encountered adverse experiences.
