The disorderly machinery traffic has been one of the main causes soil physical degradation in sugarcane fields. In this sense, adoption strategies for control a viable alternative to reduce risk compaction and minimize restrictions plant growth. However, impact on properties is still unknown study, we investigated impacts functions under contrasting textures (clayey sandy clay), assessed at row inter-row planting positions. Bulk density, porosity, penetration resistance, weighted average diameter aggregates visual assessment structure (VESS) were measured. addition, quality index (SPQI) was following functions: support root growth, ability resist erosion degradation, water supply plants, edaphic fauna, its relationship with exchange gases between atmosphere. results revealed that uncontrolled farming increased bulk VESS scores as well reduced total porosity mainly 0–10 cm layer. Controlled supported relation traffic. Uncontrolled caused reduction by 12% SPQI position both clayey clay soils, whereas position, no difference observed treatments. fields able induced agricultural traffic, whose mitigation occurs row-position. These suggest controlled may be strategy growth

The adoption of crops that precede the renewal sugarcane fields, improves soil physical conditions, through addition organic matter, increase biopores and greater aggregation. This work aimed to evaluate attributes after usage crops, in conventional tillage (CT) no-tillage (NT), at time renewal. experimental design was a randomized block design, with five replicates. treatments consisted use Crotalaria juncea, ochroleuca, Helianthus annuus (sunflower), Glycine max (L.) Merrill (soybean), Sorghum bicolor Moench, sorghum variety saccharine BRS 506, fallow treatment. After crop vegetative cycle potential renewal, samples were collected, preserved structure, using metallic cylinder determine density (SD), microporosity (Micro), macroporosity (Macro) total porosity (TP) also collected aggregates stability, geometric mean diameter, weighted diameter (ASI, GMD, WMD, DI). C. juncea cultivation favoured lowest values of SD where CT performed. Treatment sunflower, soybean NT. increased Macro TP on CT. In NT sunflower PT. cultivars highest (GMD), (WMD) aggregate stability index (IEA). treatment favored dispersion (DI). cultivations sorghum, it is not necessary stir soil.

Abstract The visual evaluation of soil structure (VESS) is an affordable and easy‐to‐use method for assessing quality that could help in the early detection changes pasturelands less developed countries where ranchers cannot afford quantitative studies. Here, we assessed three pasture areas Colombian Amazon region using VESS tested its suitability through a correlation analysis with key physical biochemical indicators measured at same study locations. Moreover, by integrating all indicators, determined index (SQI) to correlate scores. A forest area was used as reference evaluate due use >25 years. Our results revealed high scores, indicating poor suggesting compaction process starts 6.5 cm depth, corroborated increases bulk density, resistance penetration, reduction porosity. Soil C N contents were 35% 33% lower than forest. This pattern observed geometric mean enzymatic activity. scores significantly correlated most overall SQI, demonstrating ability integrate reflect attributes related essential physical, chemical, biological functioning soils from region, becoming useful tool detecting signs degradation pasturelands.

Introduction: Previous studies have proven that different tillage measures significant effects on soil structure, hydrology properties and erosion. However, few clarified the dynamic changes in aggregate stability infiltration during crop growth under four measures. Methods: Four field plots (150 m × 15 m) managed by methods including wide ridge (DT), no-tillage (NT), contour (CT) traditional (CK) were built 2021 to evaluate their of structure water conductivity growth. Soybean was seasonal crop. Soil bulk density, porosity, characteristics measured assess from June October 2022. Results: The results showed NT significantly increased density up 21.62% compared with CK, while DT did not show increase density. DT, CT could greatly capillary porosity proportion total porosity. also improved water-stable aggregates 3.37% 10.6%. In terms properties, all three initial, stable average rates 8.4%–52.94%, which greatest improvement. process be better fitted Horton model than Kostiakov Philip models. saturated hydraulic (SHC) CK exhibited a negative correlation positive geometric diameter (GMD), whereas other treatments only displayed aggregate. Conclusion: suggest potential improve capacity contribute preventing controlling erosion sloping farmland Northeast China.

Abstract The efficient use of vinasse, the primary byproduct sugarcane ethanol production, is important for economic and environmental sustainability industry. Few studies have quantified soil health response to long‐term vinasse application, even though this generally applied as a potassium (K) source in fields. Soil Management Assessment Framework (SMAF) was used assess integrated soils with contrasting textures. Chemical, physical, biological indicators were selected, measured, into index clay‐ sandy‐textured Brazil. Overall, application improved components both soils. results showed that benefits go beyond increasing K content. Vinasse increased organic carbon content, nutrient recycling, physical quality. from 49% 62% clayey 43% 61% sandy clay soil. findings therefore revealed potential reduce need synthetic fertilizer promote circular economy regardless type. This study verifies sandy‐ clay‐texture Brazil has because it recycles an enhances health.

The quality of sugarcane broth can be affected by soil management. In compacted soils the productivity is reduced, and raw material poor. This research aimed to evaluate for four management types: (CT) heavy harrow + light harrow; (CTI) Subsoiler (MT) (NT) no movement. variables investigated were resistance penetration (SPR), chemical (broth) crop yield. rows, SPR did not reach severe levels up 0.3 m root development. However, below this layer, MT, NT, CTI reached limiting values 2.50, 2.35 1.95 MPa, respectively. inter-crop compaction was concentrated in surface layers (0–0.3 m). addition, all adopted managements presented above critical value (2 MPa). preparation forms qualitatively broth, showing higher fiber protein contents CT. PS, Brix, TRS, Pol Still, absolute found indicating an increase when applying conservation highest yields obtained reduced tillage (MT), surpassing lowest yield with 10.5 Mg ha−1.
