Schizophyllum
commune
is
an
edible
fungus
with
high
medicinal
value,
but
exposure
to
heavy-metal
pollution
poses
significant
health
risks.
Cadmium
(Cd)
toxicity
inhibits
fungal
growth
and
leads
Cd
accumulation
in
the
mycelium.
However,
regulatory
mechanisms
of
Cd-induced
inhibition
remain
poorly
understood.
Here,

was
cultured
Cd-supplemented
minimal
medium
(MM)
investigate
response
exposure.

found
that

Cd-dependent
increase
endogenous
nitric
oxide
(NO)
levels.

production
primarily
mediated
by
nitrate
reductase
(NR)
pathway.

inhibiting
NR
activity
or
scavenging

chitinase
activity,
thereby
promoting
cell
wall

inhibition.

mechanism

Abstract
Urbanization
exacerbates
soil
degradation,
compromising
global
health
and
biodiversity.
To
reduce
this,
strategies
for
de-sealing
bioremediation
are
necessary.
In
a
mesocosm
experiment
using
de-sealed
from
an
urban
site
as
substrate,
inoculum
of
arbuscular
mycorrhizal
fungi
(AMF)
two
cover
plants,
Cynara
cardunculus
L.
Trifolium
repens
L.,
were
utilized
to
assess
their
effects
on
volatile
organic
compound
(VOC)
emissions
microbial
community
dynamics.
The
status
was
investigated
employing
VOC
metabarcoding
analyses.
Our
results
showed
that
the
emission
mainly
composed
by
anthropogenic
derived
VOCs,
especially
arene
furan
classes.
These
classes
shown
be
less
concentrated
in
C.
soils,
with
without
AM
fungal
inoculation,
suggesting
positive
impact
these
conditions
restoration.
Additionally,
inoculation
resulted
increased
bacterial
alpha
diversity,
enhanced
Proteobacteria/Acidobacteria,
Cyanobacteria/Chloroflexi,
Fungi/Bacteria
ratios,
