Blue light (BL) is important in regulating floral transition. In a controlled environment production system, BL can be manipulated easily and precisely aspects like peak wavelength, intensity, duration, co-action with other wavelengths. However, the results of previous studies about BL-mediated transition are inconsistent, which implies that an in-depth critical examination relevant physiological mechanisms necessary. This review consolidates recent findings on role mediating not only model plants, such as Arabidopsis thaliana, but also crops, especially horticultural crops. The photoreceptors, integrator proteins, signal pathways, key network components involved critically reviewed. provides possible explanations for contrasting flowering; it valuable information to explain develop manipulation strategies flowering, plants. identifies knowledge gaps outlines future directions research related fields.
