The choice of carbon inequality metrics can significantly influence demand-side mitigation policies and their equity outcomes. We propose integrated metrics, including juxtaposing with economic inequality, disparity ratios across income age groups, structural income–urbanization patterns. then apply these new use the household expenditure survey data from China Family Panel Studies as a case study to examine consumption-based emissions in China. assess extent which consumption patterns, expenditure, age, urbanization contribute gap per-capita footprints (CF) groups. find that relative terms, top 20% group accounts for 38% total emissions, whereas bottom emit about 8% Per-capita CFs vary slightly widely than expenditure. CF all eight categories provinces concentrate around 4.5. households elderly members range 1 3 decrease increasing size. Rural CF-Gini exhibit wider (0.15 0.52) urban (0.16 0.42). Per capita inhabitants was substantially larger rural ones, 8.83 tCO2 per regions vs. 2.68 regions. This provides nuanced understanding within-country disparities inform equitable solutions.
