Green chemistry focuses on reducing the environmental impacts of chemicals through sustainable practices. Traditional methods for extracting bioactive compounds from Eucalyptus marginata leaves, such as hydro-distillation and organic solvent extraction, have limitations, including long extraction times, high energy consumption, potential toxic residues. This study explored use supercritical fluid (SFE), pressurized liquid (PLE), gas-expanded (GXL) processes to improve efficiency selectivity. These techniques were combined in a single mixture design, where CO2 was used experiments carried out under SFE, while water ethanol PLE GXL by varying concentration solvents cover all possibilities. The neuroprotective activity extracts evaluated measuring their antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, acetylcholinesterase inhibition properties. optimization resulted novel with an optimal ternary 27% CO2, 55% ethanol, 18% water, degree desirability (R2 = 88.59%). Chromatographic analysis GC-MS HPLC-ESI-MS/MS identified over 49 metabolites. designed process offers promising approach producing phenolic-rich plant industrial applications.

Propolis is a valuable natural resource for extracting various beneficial compounds. This study explores sustainable extraction approach Brazilian green propolis. First, supercritical fluid (SFE) process parameters were optimized (co-solvent: 21.11% v/v CPME, and temperature: 60 °C) to maximize yield, total phenolic content (TPC), antioxidant capacity, LOX (lipoxygenase) inhibitory activity. GC–MS analysis identified 40 metabolites in SFE extracts, including fatty acids, terpenoids, phenolics, sterols. After selecting the optimum parameters, sequential high-pressure (HPE) was developed, comprising SFE, pressurized liquid (PLE) with EtOH/H2O, subcritical water (SWE). compared similar using low-pressure extractions (LPE) Soxhlet extractor. The HPE achieved significantly higher overall yield (80.86%) than LPE (71.43%). showed selectivity, resulting lower carbohydrate non-polar fraction, PLE extracted nearly twice protein amount of LPE–2. Despite extracts exhibited better acetylcholinesterase (AChE), butyrylcholinesterase (BChE), inhibition, demonstrating that neuroprotective anti-inflammatory activity may be associated symbiosis set Finally, comprehensive greenness assessment revealed proved more aligned chemistry principles method.

In this work, extracts from the pulp, peel, and seed of Manilkara zapota were obtained via lyophilization oven drying. Bromatological analyses performed to investigate variabilities in nutritional content fruits after nine post-harvest days. The phytochemical was assessed by gas chromatography flame ionization detector (GC-FID), their biological performance studied using vitro antibacterial antioxidant assays (DPPH ABTS) vivo toxicity models. Sustainable agro-waste revaluation is critical to enhance the profitability and environmental footprint of olive oil industry. Herein, valorization leaf pruning waste from five cultivars ('Caiazzana', 'Carolea', 'Itrana', 'Leccino', 'Frantoio') employed green extraction methods recover compounds with potential health benefits. Sequential ultrasound-assisted maceration (UAM) in n-hexane ethanol was compared a compressed fluid strategy consisting supercritical (SFE) pressurized liquid (PLE) for their efficiency recovering distinct classes bioactives. Chemical profiling by UHPLC-HR-MS/MS (ultra-high-performance chromatography high-resolution tandem mass spectrometry) GC-MS (gas showed that UAM-EtOH effectively extracted polyphenols (especially luteolin derivatives) triterpenes (notably maslinic acid), while PLE yielded highest amount secoiridoids (e.g., secologanoside). extracts better antiradical activities, putatively due higher content flavonoids, secoiridoids, HCA derivatives than ones, as these latter also contained 20-40% (cultivar-dependent) triterpenes. SFE concentration fatty acids moderate antioxidant activities but very high AChE inhibition. This study highlights importance selecting appropriate methodologies based on target bioactive underscores sustainable bio-products.

Nowadays, supercritical CO2 extraction is highly regarded in industry, and several studies dealing with scale-up calculations aim to facilitate the transition from small scale large scale. To complete this transition, it would be interesting able predict kinetics, which of work. A new methodology based on association Sovová’s broken intact cell model response surface was developed SC-CO2 kinetics different biomass (Argan kernels, evening primrose, Punica granatum, Camellia sinensis, dry paprika) at operating conditions (200–700 bar, 40–60 °C, 0.14–10 kg/h) inside an domain. The absolute average relative deviations between experimental predicted data ranged 1.86 29.03%, showing satisfactory reliability methodology.
