In the process of hydrothermal carbonization cellulose to produce biochar, promotion or inhibition roles main hydrolysates such as 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF), furfural (F), formic acid (FA), and levulinic (LA) on biochar formation are still unknown, limiting development controllable preparation biochar. Here, 5-HMF itself, mixtures F, FA, well LA are, respectively, used precursor for elucidate their interactions formation. Morphologies play an important role in carbon nanomaterials. Carbon nanomaterials with different morphologies have applications fields. However, nano-polyhedra been rarely reported literatures. Nano-carbon octadecahedron were prepared by the interaction of DTAB aggregates a concentrated solution calcium chloride at 600 °C and size about 700 nm. A series characterizations, such as SEM, FT-IR, XPS, XRD, Raman, etc., proved that it conforms to basic characteristics may be doped Ca carbon. Successful preparation suggests use situ carbonization salt system is new worthwhile approach explore.
