Abstract Green and efficient agro-waste-based activated carbon has been prepared utilizing peanut shells for adsorptive elimination of an industrial dye, methylene blue, lead from polluted water. The carbonaceous biomass obtained was chemically using either NaOH, ZnCl 2 , or steam characterized by scanning electron microscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, N adsorption desorption studies. process optimal blue at alkaline pH, while pH 4.5 Pb (II) adsorption. takes place through pseudo-second-order kinetic, the rate-governing step procedure are intraparticle diffusion film diffusion. Furthermore, thermodynamics studied, Gibbs free energy (ΔG°) values negative (− 35.90 to − 43.59 kJ mol −1 ) indicating spontaneous investigated pollutants on carbon. The solar water-heating (SWH) system is one of the most convenient applications energy, which considered an available, economical, and environmentally friendly energy source to fulfill demands world. In this review, existing SWH systems design aspects major components e.g., thermal collector, storage tank, heat exchanger, transferring fluid, absorber plate, etc. were extensively studied. Recent research further improve potential practical are critically reviewed. Moreover, a relatively new concept in systems, using nanofluids collectors as transfer fluid has been studied terms criteria for development systems. Stationary flat plate collector (FPC) single-axis tracking compound parabolic (CPC) exhibit efficiencies 45–60 % (operating range: 25–100 °C) 30–50 60–300 °C), respectively. use stratification structures diffusers, baffles, membranes, fabrics, effective tool reduce losses from tank well harvest highest collector.
