Abstract Students’ self-efficacy in language learning is not a static attribute but rather dynamic construct. However, studies have seldom explored how students’ beliefs change over time, whether there are heterogeneities the pattern of among students, and what factors associated with these patterns change. This study aimed to (1) investigate changes English time; (2) delve into distinct trajectories changes; (3) examine relationships between their predictors. A total 452 students secondary schools participated study. We combined variable-centered (latent growth curve modeling) person-centered (growth mixture approaches analyzing three-wave data semester. The results latent modeling showed remained stable period general. Using approach, four were identified, involving “low decreasing”, “average stable”, “high decreasing” increasing” trends. Higher prior academic achievement exposure mastery experience, vicarious social persuasion predicted membership increasing trajectories. Theoretical practical implications discussed.

Inspired by self-determination theory (SDT), the Academic Motivation Scale (AMS) was developed to measure students' learning motivation. While AMS has been widely validated and used in educational contexts, it generally overlooked domain-specific nature of academic motivation, particularly English as a foreign language (EFL) China, home world's largest population EFL learners. This study sought adapt substantiate its validity using both within-network between-network approaches with sample 1,390 Chinese secondary Results from item analysis, internal consistency, confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) showed that 28-item EFL-specific exhibits robust psychometric properties, characterised seven-factor structure, demonstrates invariance across gender grade levels. Structural equation modelling (SEM) analyses further indicated extrinsic intrinsic motivations are positively correlated perceived teacher support, engagement, achievement, whereas amotivation is inversely associated these outcomes. The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in language education is gaining traction, yet students' adoption intentions remain underexplored. This study examines the factors influencing Algerian university to use AI for English learning. A convenience sample 145 students participated, and multiple linear regression analysis was conducted test four hypotheses.
