This article explores the contestation of religious identity at Masjid Gedhe ‘Grand Mosque’ Kauman Yogyakarta, a provincial cultural heritage site in Yogyakarta. With calls for increased focus on action in the promotion of social justice English language teaching field, critical scholars have identified teacher identity (LTI) exploration as having transformative potential. However, more research is needed how to effectively pedagogize LTI education and professional development programs diverse contexts around globe—which this special issue. Grounded framework pedagogy, article proposes use a inquiry group one approach pedagogizing transnational teachers. An Ecological Inquiry into Transnational English Language Teachers’ Emotional Vulnerability and Agency DOI

In this study, we propose an ecological model of teacher agency and emotional vulnerability that draws on epistemological roots these two constructs to capture historico-personal, socio-organizational, prospective levels professionalism. We then ontologically apply the exploring transnational language teachers' in context Turkey. Framing study within a narrative inquiry methodology, collected data from open-ended questionnaires, frames, semi-structured interviews. Data analyses revealed personal emotions, embodied agencies, vulnerabilities were profoundly shaped by individual histories, contextual discourses, sociocultural particularities. The findings unpack novel dimensions vulnerability, attesting their interconnection, especially transnationalism. conclude with implications for educators reduce pressure teachers render agencies as rooted effective professional growth, rather than being defined excessive turn restrict agencies.

This article provides a systematic review of 46 empirical studies published between 1990 and 2022 on identities non-English-dominant teachers undertaking transnational language teacher education in universities English-speaking countries. This qualitative research underscores the influence of social justice-oriented pedagogies on growth emerging bilinguals (EB) enrolled as teacher candidates in English language education programs terms both linguistic, instructional, and long-term professional realms. Collaboratively conducted with dedicated pre-service student teachers (PST), this case study addresses cultural gaps structural disparities Vietnamese educational society. By delving into expanding literature these associated types within research, involved 20 PST-EB Vietnam. Engaging organizations, PSTs integrated real-life experiences their classroom knowledge production.
