Purpose By providing a practical and theoretical framework on the role of digitalization in business model innovation (BMI) countermeasures liabilities foreignness (LoF), we aim to provide small medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from emerging markets with means confront reality de-internationalization. Design/methodology/approach A quantitative design emphasizing mature theory collecting survey data 210 SMEs an market. The are analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) based covariance-based SEM (CB-SEM), multiple regression (MRA) Hayes' process model. Findings Digitalization was revealed significantly indirectly negatively affect SMEs’ de-internationalization via BMI. Besides, conditional indirect effect through BMI is more robust exists at high LoF SMEs. Originality/value We advise distinctive relatively comprehensive strategy for coping pressures or having their internationalization schedules perpetually altered lens resource-based view institution theory.

The focus of this research revolves around applying the dynamic capabilities (DC) considering technological, organizational, and environmental dimensions (TOE framework) to explore digital transformation (DT) innovation. current literature has shown a limited on integrating DC with TOE framework, inspiring address gap. The digital technology transition fosters the flexibility of companies and their ability to respond quickly market changes. However, Small Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) seem be particularly challenged by transformation. Alkire-Foster (AF) method was employed analyze integration profiles in SMEs.
