This study focused on the second-level digital divide and examined how objective socioeconomic status (OSS) subjective social (SSS) influenced two usage types–learning- entertaining-related Internet use. Using three-wave data from China Family Panel Survey, this challenged traditional notion of a bipolar division between learning-related use, revealing that high OSS individuals reported more engagement in both types Furthermore, by incorporating perspective into research, found SSS was positively related to while its relationship with use nonlinear, middle group reporting highest level. Notably, it uncovered an interaction predicting where SSS-based gap became pronounced within group. The findings were also supported lagged regression models, provides countermeasure reference for effectively bridging divide.

This study delves into ageing as it is depicted through social media videos in China. Through a critical analysis of 40 short-form videos, compares how older people are discursively constructed by official agents and individual content creators to uncover their underlying ideological interests. Findings show that tend portray socially disconnected lonely whereas personal showcase the jovial inspirational aspects growing old. They also reveal exclusively situated urban settings while depict rural relatively modest settings. These findings reflect reinforce pathologisation othering ideologies linked communitarianism governmentality commodification old age Chinese socio-political socio-cultural ecosystem.
