Abstract Background While substantial literature exists on the intersection of overweight/obesity (OWO) and pregnancy, much it focuses specific aspects, making difficult to maintain an overview clinically relevant factors for optimal care OWO women throughout pregnancy. Objectives To provide a comprehensive synthesis existing literature, covering full spectrum information needed manage from preconception birth. Methods For this narrative review search was conducted PubMed in January 2025. Eligible studies included full-text English articles with data human subjects, no restrictions publication date. Findings The impact pregnancy is multifaceted, encompassing four interrelated themes: physiological consequences, emerging risks, challenges prenatal care, intervention strategies. exhibit differences metabolic inflammatory pathways compared normal-weight women, reflected altered laboratory tests. When managing gestational diabetes preeclampsia, obesity-related characteristics must be considered. Clinicians need alert obesity-mediated fetal complications, including overgrowth, malformations, stillbirth, preterm birth, while navigating ultrasound measurements. Interventions during periods key opportunities optimize maternal weight reduce risk long-term disease development. Conclusion review’s insights enhance clinical practice call researchers policymakers prioritize strategies that offer early counseling obese pregnant women. These initiatives aim outcomes both mother child contribute combating global obesity crisis.

Background: The long-term effects of a perinatal high-fat diet on the cardiovascular function offspring are not well elucidated. We hypothesize that exposure to alters adult and immune responses in sex-specific manner. Methods: Male female were born (pHFD) or control (pCD)-fed C57BL/6 mothers weaned diet. Cardiovascular (baseline response an acute isoproterenol stress test) was quantified at 8 weeks age, blood inflammatory single low dose lipopolysaccharide 9 age. Results: pHFD had identical baseline compared pCD mice but blunted (20-45% reductions cardiac output, stroke volume, left ventricular fractional shortening). In contrast, parameters reduced offspring, there no effect isoproterenol. Concentrations TNF-α IL-6 plasma two hours after low-dose LPS administration highest mice. Conclusions: Perinatal resulted adaptations response. Female displayed impairments, whereas male showed latent vulnerability under stress. These differences may reflect underlying hormonal epigenetic mechanisms diverge by sex. Future studies should examine roles sex hormones gene regulation pathways better understand these dimorphic outcomes. findings emphasize importance maternal shaping cardiometabolic risks highlight potential avenues for nutritional interventions during pregnancy.

The blood that remains in the placenta and umbilical cord after birth of infant is referred to as (UCB), which has advantages convenient source less ethical controversy. MicroRNA (miRNA) a class non-coding RNAs can regulate gene expression translation transcription. Alterations miRNA involve changes range pathways. An increasing body research indicates miRNAs are implicated many human disorders involved almost all biological medium processes. Due their high stability UCB, circulating considered promising biomarkers for diagnosis disease prognosis. Herein, we conduct comprehensive review summarize roles diverse UCB from different perspectives, including biomarker developmental projections diagnosis, relationship between maternal gestational status neonatal expression, therapeutic function exosomal miRNA, profiles cell lineages. Taken together, very indicating physiological states, drug responses, development or health conditions, help diagnosing, classifying, predicting diseases, prognosis, providing personalized treatment plans patients.

Abstract Obesity has reached epidemic proportions in most parts of the world, and it is estimated that 1 billion people globally are trapped an obesity pandemic, which seriously compromised human health. Recently, there been a flood research into as well redox lipid metabolism; however, our understanding pathways specific molecular mechanisms by obesity‐induced oxidative stress affects female reproductive function remains limited. In this review, we discuss how pandemic led to lower fertility. We focus on multiple facets obesity‐mediated dysfunction, including follicular atresia, oocyte maturation, embryo implantation, aging, therapeutic interventions have potential normalize obese females, such targeting mitochondrial metabolism antioxidant pathways.

Abstract Throughout the individual’s reproductive period of life ovary undergoes continues changes, including cyclic processes cell death, tissue regeneration, proliferation, and vascularization. Tissue-resident leucocytes particularly macrophages, play a crucial role in shaping ovarian function maintaining homeostasis. Macrophages crucially promote angiogenesis follicles corpora lutea, thereby supporting steroidogenesis. Recent research on macrophage origins early seeding has unveiled significant insights into their organogenesis, e.g. testis. Here, we review evidence about prenatal leucocytes, primarily macrophages with angiogenic profiles, its connection to gametogenesis. In ovary, germ cells proliferate, form cysts, undergo changes that, following waves apoptosis, give rice oocytes contained primordial follicles. These constitute reserve that lasts throughout female’s life. Simultaneously, yolk-sac-derived primitive colonizing are gradually replaced or outnumbered by monocyte-derived fetal macrophages. However, cues indicating how colonization follicle assembly related elusive. may contribute organogenesis promoting vasculogenesis. Whether lymphangiogenesis innervation is still unknown. Ovarian gametogenesis vulnerable insults, potentially programming dysfunction later life, as observed polycystic syndrome. Experimental and, more sparsely, epidemiological suggest adverse stimuli during pregnancy can program defective folliculogenesis diminished offspring. While highly sensitive inflammation, involvement local immune responses health disease remains be thoroughly investigated.
