Abstract
A
recurring
hypothesis
in
the
literature
is
that
“passive”
social
media
use
(browsing)
leads
to
negative
effects
on
well-being.
This
preregistered
study
investigated
a
rival
hypothesis,
which
states
of
browsing
well-being
depend
person-specific
susceptibilities
envy,
inspiration,
and
enjoyment.
We
conducted
three-week
experience
sampling
among
353
adolescents
(13–15
years,
126
assessments
per
adolescent).
Using
an
advanced
N

1
method
analysis,
we
found
sizeable
heterogeneity
associations
with
enjoyment

ranging

Dancing
is
a
universal
human
activity,
and
also
domain
of
enduring
significance
in
Human-Computer
Interaction
(HCI)
research.
However,
there
has
been
limited
investigation
into
how
computing
supports
the
experiences
recreational
dancers.
Concurrently,
diverse
sizeable
dance
community
emerging
VRChat.
Little
known
about
these
dancers’
experiences,
motivations,
practices.
Yet
shedding
light
could
inform
both
VR
technology
development
design
systems
that
better
support
embodied
complex
social
interactions.
To
bridge
this
gap,
we
interviewed
participants
active
VRChat
scene.
Through
thematic
analysis,
identified
six
central
facets
their
related
to
freedom,
community,
as
an
individual
experience,
shared
performance,
self-expression
-exploration.
