Nowadays, sustainable and renewable energy production is a global priority. Over the past decade, several Power-to-X (PtX) technologies have been proposed to store convert surplus of energies into chemical bonds chemicals produced by different processes. CO2 major contributor climate change, yet it also an undervalued source carbon that could be recycled represents opportunity generate energy. In this context, PtX would allow for valorization fuels while reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. With work we want provide up-to-date overview biomethanation as technology considering biological aspects main parameters affecting its application scalability at industrial level. Particular attention will paid concept CO2-streams integration process with energies. Aspects related new promising such in situ, ex hybrid underground methanation discussed, connection recent cases. Furthermore, technical economic feasibility critically analyzed highlight current options limitations implementing process.
