ABSTRACT Spatial visual attention prioritizes specific locations while disregarding others. The location of spatial can be deployed without overt movements (covertly). dynamics covert are exceptionally difficult to measure due the hidden nature attention. One way implicitly index is via pupillary light response (PLR), as strength PLR modulated by where allocated. However, this method has so far necessitated simplistic stimuli and targeted only one driver per experiment. Here we report a novel pupillometric that allows tracking multiple effects on with highly complex stimuli. Participants watched movie clips either passively viewing or top‐down shifting targets left, right, both sides field. Using recent toolbox (Open‐DPSM), evaluated whether luminance changes in regions presumably receiving more contribute strongly responses—and thereby reveal Three established pupil responses were found: (1) bottom‐up effect suggesting drawn dynamic regions, (2) towards instructed direction, (3) an overall tendency attend left side (i.e. pseudoneglect). Beyond successful validation our method, these drivers did not modulate each other's effects, indicating independent contributions bottom‐up, top‐down, pseudoneglect present. We further explain how use Open‐DPSM track brief tutorial.
