Sulfolane, an organic solvent widely used in the petrochemical industry, has raised concerns due to its potential health risks and environmental mobility. Toxicological studies suggest that it may negatively affect human ecological health, highlighting need for risk assessments. Alongside sulfolane, BTEX compounds (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes) are commonly present operations, their migration be influenced by sulfolane. This study developed a gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS) method simultaneous analyses of sulfolane water. BTEX (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes) are widely used in pesticide manufacturing industries. Due to their high volatility toxicity, compounds often leak during production, storage, transportation, posing significant threats human health the environment. In this study, soil groundwater samples at a chemical industrial site southern China were collected analyzed. Soil concentrations ranged from 0.05–142 mg/kg for benzene, 0.05–315 0.05–889 0.05–2800 m-&p-xylene, 0.05–668 o-xylene. Groundwater 0.7–340,000 μg/L 0.9–4070 0.5–1900 1.6–6000 0.6–1500 While average relatively low, there numerous locations where levels significantly exceeded national standards. Despite minimal risks pollution, utilizing drinking or bathing could result unacceptable cancer non-cancer risks. These findings underscore urgent need remediation efforts, particularly concerning benzene contamination groundwater, ensure sustainable utilization of question.

Abstract The abundance and environmental friendliness in nature of sulfur (S) make Li–S batteries more attractive addition to the high theoretical capacity (1675 mAh g −1 ) energy density (2600 Wh kg batteries. In this study, a bio‐based S cathode with graphene (Gr) coating, capable effectively suppressing shuttle effect polysulfides, is enabled via networking soy protein (SP) polydopamine (PDA) form functional bio‐binder (SP‐PDA). Dopamine self‐polymerization SP not only generates interpenetrated network for but also makes denatured structure rich groups effective trapping polysulfides. Meanwhile, Gr coating low impedance, electronic ionic conductivity on surface further significantly reduces polysulfide dissolution. Consequently, bio‐cathode (SP‐PDA@Gr) demonstrate excellent rate performance long cycling capacity. specific, under current 0.5 A at 70% (500 retention, cycle life cell SP‐PDA@Gr 600 cycles, i.e.,100 times longer than that PVDF binder. This study provides sustainable strategy enhancing through natural proteins bio‐binders.
