The preservation of marine ecosystems and the safety harvested seafood have elicited global concern. In this study, we evaluated bacterial contamination levels in sea urchin Paracentrotus lividus gonads with relation to environmental factors physicochemical parameters seawater. This investigation aimed assess Total Aerobic Mesophilic Bacteria (TAMB), Enterobacteriaceae (ETB), Fecal Coliforms (FC), Staphylococcus aureus (STAPH), Escherichia coli (E. coli), Salmonella spp. (SALM) collected from Tangier coast between December 2020 November 2021, per Moroccan regulations (NM 08.7.040). Twenty-one physicochemical, environmental, biological were assessed 360 samples P. four seasons. results these processed using multivariate statistical approaches. It was found that almost all had concentrations below regulatory limits, except for FC July (173 CFU/g). Furthermore, E. SALM absent. Principal component analysis (PCA) demonstrated F1 associated a combination microbiological, anthropogenic factors. These associations contributed 59.02% data variations strongly influenced by seasonality. F2 26.33% variations. findings may aid decision-makers protection public health sensitive locations such as northern Morocco.

Abstract We conducted surveys of Mediterranean beaches in Egypt, Morocco, and Tunisia including 37 macro-litter (> 25 mm) 41 meso-litter (5–25 assessments. Our study identified key litter items assessed pollution sources on urban, semi-urban, tourist, semi-rural beaches. Macro-litter concentration averaged 5032 ± 4919 pieces per 100 m or 1.71 2.28 pieces/m 2 , with higher values observed urban (mean 2.63 3.03) tourist 1.23 0.91) Similarly, 9.91 12.70) 5.32 4.48) revealed elevated levels contamination, particularly the upper third beach, which contained highest quantities both terms number (51%) weight (50%). 55% 35% originated from human shoreline activities poor waste management. Given width some their high pollution, standard approach was impractical. To enable cost-effective, long-term monitoring, we adapted it to a faster 10 transect approach, provided reliable data top items, accounting for 82% beach pollution. Sand Rake method effectively quantified cleaned uncleaned beaches, addressing often neglected size fraction. The levels, indicate that cleaning alone will not solve problem. Efforts raise environmental awareness, enhanced management, law enforcement are needed improve situation sustainable way.

Dredging is essential for maintaining navigable waters in ports, rivers, and dams, but it faces environmental scrutiny as the push industrial circularity intensifies. The management of dredged materials (DMs) presents a unique challenge opportunity, especially Morocco, where there notable gap research application. This paper conducts two-pronged exploration: critically assesses Morocco's legislative environment concerning DMs, highlighting its strengths shortcomings, evaluates potential DMs civil engineering projects, illustrating their alignment with 11 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. Central to this stakeholder survey that sheds light on perceived benefits, obstacles, socio-political hindrances DM adoption construction sector. In exploration DMs' advantageous applications, identified key challenges utilization management. Market entry DM-derived products impeded by absence standardized safety regulations. Additionally, transportation costs represent substantial practical hurdle leverage beneficially. Nonetheless, exists discernible willingness among end users adopt containing within operations, despite prevalent lack awareness regarding intrinsic benefits properties DMs. Collectively, study not only vivid snapshot Morocco also charts pathway researchers, policymakers, industry stakeholders collaboratively champion sustainable circular economy practices dredging

The water–tourism nexus requires better knowledge, management and governance to address environmental societal challenges. This review takes stock of the approaches used this in Mediterranean from 2000 2020. Bibliometric exploratory content analysis targeted tourism impacts on water supply, determinants consumption, water-saving mechanisms technologies. A fundamental insight is that literature remains rather centric technical, paying little attention behavioural change stakeholder action. Promising avenues reinforce sustainable use include transdisciplinary integrated tools such as hydrosocial cycle analysis, concept mapping agent-based modelling.
