Microplastics (MPs), emerging contaminants of significant global concern, have a substantially increased environmental impact due to their biological persistence and accumulation in the body. Exposure MPs has been associated with oxidative stress, systemic inflammation, cellular dysfunction, notably affecting critical tissues such as stomach, colon, brain. This review explores correlation between cancer risk along gastric–colon–brain axis, identifying signaling pathways altered by MP exposure. Furthermore, it highlights role functional nutrition bioactive flavonoids—including chlorogenic acid, coumaric naringin—as well use highly bioavailable combined polyphenol nanoparticles potential detoxifying agents. Functional nutrients are effective enhancing resilience against reactive oxygen species (ROS) production MP-induced toxicity, offering protective effects at gastric, intestinal, brain barriers. Activation Nrf2 pathway compounds promotes expression enzymes, suggesting promising nutritional strategy mitigate MP-related damage. underscores how may represent viable therapeutic approach reduce harmful The integration advanced technologies—such microfluidic systems, organ-on-a-chip platforms, machine learning—and identification key molecular targets lay foundation for developing preventive personalized medicine strategies aimed lowering environmentally induced carcinogenesis.

The environmental impact of plastics is worsened by their inadequate end-of-life disposal, leading to the ubiquitous presence micro- (MPs) and nanosized (NPs) plastic particles. MPs NPs are thus widely present in water air inevitably enter food chain, with inhalation ingestion as main exposure routes for humans. Many recent studies have demonstrated that gain access several body compartments, where they taken up cells, increase production reactive oxygen species, lead inflammatory changes. In most tissues, resident macrophages engage first approach foreign materials, this interaction largely affects subsequent fate material possible pathological outcomes. On other hand, organizers controllers both responses tissue repair. Here, we aim summarize available information on NPs. Particular attention will be devoted consequences macrophage viability functions, well implications pathology.

Microplastics (MP) are pervasive environmental pollutants that have raised concerns regarding their potential health effects. However, limited studies investigated the relationship between MP exposure and depression, particularly in college students. Our study aims to examine association depressive symptoms A total of 1420 students from Jiangsu College Nursing, China, were included this cross-sectional study. Depressive assessed using Patient Health Questionnaire-2 (PHQ-2), was estimated based on daily airborne concentration drinking-water levels. Multivariate logistic regression models used estimate associations symptoms. The prevalence among 61.8 %. median (interquartile range) 17403.7 (14174.8-20995.9) particles/day. Airborne exhibited positive with symptoms, while no significant found Compared participants lowest quartile exposure, those highest had 38 % higher odds experiencing (odds ratio [OR] = 1.38, 95 CI: 1.21-1.57). When treated as a continuous variable, each 1000-particle increase associated 7.0 (OR 1.07, 1.04-1.10). Stratified analyses indicated stronger male freshmen. This suggests is contributing factor for

Chemical food safety is a fundamental pillar of public health, regulatory governance, and economic stability, with far-reaching implications for human, animal, environmental well-being. In the matter chemicals in chain, European Union (EU) has established one most sophisticated robust frameworks to ensure balance consumer protection scientific advancements industry needs. This review provides holistic analysis EU chemical scenario, examining its framework, key risk assessment methodologies, roles critical institutions involved monitoring, enforcement, policymaking. The new evolving challenges safety, including transparency, cumulative assessment, emerging contaminants, were discussed. Special attention given major classes substances food, their oversight, principles guiding as well role actors, agencies, official laboratories, competent authorities. work offers an updated integrated EU, uniquely combining regulatory, scientific, enforcement perspectives providing structured roadmap future directions.
