This study investigated concentrations of cadmium (Cd) in 2465 vegetable samples (52 species) from 2018 to 2022 and estimated the associated health risk for local consumers. The average concentration Cd was 0.035 mg kg−1, percentage exceeding Chinese maximum allowed 3.89% (96/2465). top five species with highest levels were Lilium brownii F (0.182 kg−1), Allium chinense G (0.117 macrostemon Bunge (0.105 Colocasia esculenta (0.064 Amaranthus tricolor L (0.054 kg−1). Bulb vegetables had a higher relative accumulation compared other vegetables. varied significantly across sampling areas years. mean daily intake (EDI) through consumption 0.519 μg kg−1 bw per day adults 0.217 children. target hazard quotients (THQs) all less than threshold 1 both indicates that there is low consumption. However, routine monitoring food still crucial ensure safety protect public health.

This study deals with the reduction of diverse pollutant including chromium from tanning effluent by using bio-adsorbent developed a naturally available coconut fibre. The experiment examined varying several parameters like pH (3.0-5.0), adsorbent dosage (1.5-4.0 g L-1), time (5-360 min), concentration (131.62-248.19 ppm), and temperature (298-338 K). Pyrolyzed activated fibre powder (PACF) was prepared characterized Fourier Transformed Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM) to determine functional groups surface morphology. FTIR spectra PACF confirmed broader cellulosic O-H stretching vibration peak at 3404 3387 cm-1 before after adsorption. To narrate adsorption equilibrium, Langmuir Freundlich isotherms were used maximum capacity found 81.30 mg g-1. kinetics process studied pseudo-first-order pseudo-second-order models, where kinetic model better fitted data. pollution, such as content (66.53%), total dissolved solids (TDS) (63.77%), biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) (58.19%), chemical (COD) (61.69%), electrical conductivity (EC) (64.39%), chrome effluents achieved. Mining activities has generated large amounts of mine tailings each year, and these usually contain high concentrations heavy metal pollutants, which not only cause serious damage to the local surrounding soil ecosystems, but also harm human health via transmission food chain. Phytoremediation is treated as environmentally friendly, long-term effective low-cost restoration method. However, tailing acidification, low organic matter content, poor water holding capacity compaction make plant struggle survive. Biochar, a conditioner can promote growth by improving physical, chemical biological properties soil, thus strengthening ability phytoremediation in contaminated tailings. This review elaborates how physicochemical biochar affect phytoremediation; summarized raw materials characteristics. Finally, future research directions are prospected.

Water pollution caused by chromium released from tannery is a serious concern to the environment and public health. Chromium removal effluent crying need before discharging surface water.
