Abstract Diverse chemicals and some physical phenomena recently introduced in nanotechnology have enabled scientists to develop useful devices the field of food sciences. Concerning such developments, detecting foodborne pathogenic bacteria is now an important issue. These kinds species demonstrated severe health effects after consuming foods high mortality related acute cases. The most leading path intoxication infection has been through matrices. Hence, quick recognition agents at low concentrations required current diagnostics. Lateral flow assays (LFAs) are one urgent prevalently applied methods that settled for recognizing diverse types analytes. Thus, present review stressed on latest developments LFAs‐based platforms detect various as Salmonella , Listeria Escherichia coli Brucella Shigella Staphylococcus aureus Clostridium botulinum Vibrio cholera . Proper prominence given exactly how labels, detection elements, or procedures affected recent evaluation using LFAs. Additionally, modifications specificity sensitivity consistent with processing techniques discussed. Human health/socioeconomic development is closely correlated to environmental pollution, highlighting the need monitor contaminants in real environment with reliable devices such as biosensors. Recently, variety of biosensors gained high attention and employed in-situ application, real-time, cost-effective analytical tools for healthy environment. For continuous monitoring, it necessary portable, cost-effective, quick, flexible biosensing devices. These benefits biosensor strategy are related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established by United Nations (UN), especially reference clean water sources energy. However, relationship between SDGs application monitoring not well understood. In addition, some limitations challenges might hinder on monitoring. According our literature review, 33% publications used fluorescence-based followed by surface plasmon resonance (SPR) with 28%. Mycotoxins are responsible for several diseases in human and animals which impose huge medical economical burdens worldwide, especially low-income countries. Therefore, many countries set regulations maximum permissible amounts of mycotoxins food that need detection methods to monitor the mycotoxin concentration. Conventional like Enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with fluorescence (HPLC-FLD), chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) gas (GC) widely used quantitatively mycotoxins. However, these have limitations make them suitable laboratories factories, but cannot be regularly daily markets. Thus, pursuit sensitive, specific, handheld, low-cost as effective elective strategies point-of-care testing (POCT) has gotten much consideration recent years.
