Nitrite is a health and environmental hazard pollutes water sources globally, but sensitive, rapid, facile quantification methods are lacking. Herein, we report method for extracting quantifying low-concentration nitrite in surface using minimal sample solvent volumes. The reacted with sulfanilamide N-1-naphthylethylenediammonium dichloride (NED), yielding an azo dye extraction into organic ion-associate liquid phase (IALP) formed situ ethylhexyloxypropylammonium dodecyl sulfate ions. addition of sodium acetate increased the pH, decreasing cation charge from +2 to +1, improving efficiency. Further, adding NaCl doubled IALP volume, reduced required standing time, minimally affected absorbance, concentrated HCl enhanced absorbance intensity via protonation. Crucially, achieved 30-fold concentration factor compared traditional pre-treatment methods, even without centrifugation, as well limit detection 0.09 µg NO2-N/L. Spiked recovery tests river seawater samples (93-103%) matched those established methods. Digital imaging IALP-extracted lake yielded 0.4 efficient approach detection, enabling rapid monitoring spectrophotometry digital imaging.
