At the present time, increase in level of motorization has led to levels congestion that are difficult for inhabitants large cities bear, with negative implications on quality life. Solving problem can no longer be achieved just by expanding and developing networks; other solutions must found fit requirements sustainable development society. One is becoming more promoted today increasing degree use high-capacity public transport networks. For this, network serve a surface as possible territory, operating conditions deal requests varied structure different intensities short time intervals. The paper aims review several models topological accessibility networks analyze how Bucharest metro serves after last extension carried out 2020. It noted only 56% city’s currently covered network, while city continuous territorial expansion. Through case study presented paper, some points interest residents who also determined. end, there formulated conclusions regarding coverage proposals further developments, so services offered benefit many Bucharest’s possible.

Urban transportation systems, particularly integrated bus–metro networks, play a critical role in sustaining city functions but face significant vulnerability during extreme flood disasters. Taking Zhengzhou, China, as case study, this study developed comprehensive assessment model to evaluate the resilience of urban hybrid networks under scenarios. First, complex network-based network was established, incorporating quantifiable disaster risk indices considering disaster-inducing factors, hazard-prone environments, and disaster-bearing entities. A cascading failure then constructed simulate propagation node failures passenger load redistribution events. Subsequently, evaluated using topological metric relative size largest connected component functional global efficiency. The analysis examined influence capacity sensitivity parameters α β on outcomes. Simulation results indicated that parameter combination = 0.8 2.0 yielded highest tested conditions, offering balance between redundancy targeted protection high-load nodes. Additionally, recovery strategies prioritizing nodes based betweenness centrality significantly improved This provides valuable insights practical guidance for improving resilience, assisting policymakers planners better mitigating impacts.

Transportation uses substantial energy and is a significant household expense in the United States; public transportation working from home present opportunities to reduce use increase affordability. However, during COVID-19, systems reduced service, nationwide, has been declining. Focusing on six small-to-medium-sized “Gateway Cities” Massachusetts—more affordable cities with lower-than-state-average median income education—that have regional transit are within Boston’s commuter rail area, we analyzed changes ridership work home. We estimated linear hierarchical regression models understand association between demographics built environment lower emission modes 2011 2021. used GIS visualize distribution of over time space. found that block groups our sample retained users study period saw increases Across all cities, was more likely higher accessibility jobs frequent those jobs; work-from-home percentage Hispanic residents rent burden. most either an or home, suggesting spatially segmented groups.

(1) Background: Public transport has a vital role to play in creating sustainable, accessible societies. Accessible and inclusive, door-to-door public systems with low barriers use benefit everyone, increasing the mobility of citizens improving independence. As industry strives towards multi-modal Mobility as Service (MaaS) concepts, there is need delve deep into needs perceptions user’s journeys find ways improve. Accordingly, order increase sustainability MaaS, accessibility understanding service user are utmost importance. However, scarcity research within national services determine unmet autonomy journeys. This aims investigate if it possible improve journey experience for travellers, perception via technology, by doing so, providing more sustainable alternative road transport. It focuses on users Ireland’s National Rail service, Irish Rail, create key improvements interactive systems. (2) Methods: The study applies user-centred mixed-methods methodology using surveys (N = 316) co-design workshops (four N 15). collected insights mindsets users, showing potential this door-to-the-door customer journey. Key were outlined. Experience maps designed, leading Conceptual Design travel assistant aid throughout (3) Results: Travellers’ sense freedom they can be improved, mainly their across complete supported. Highlighted areas action include information, accessibility, personal security, ticketing, comfort, facilities, anxiety. (4) Conclusions: reiterates MaaS providers prioritise users’ perspectives when developing services. Co-designing recommended means achieving this.
