Abstract This study investigates the quasi‐static compression response and energy absorption characteristics of origami‐inspired thin‐walled tubes fabricated from carbon nanotube film/epoxy (CNTF/EP). The tests are performed on origami tubes, square circular made other common materials for comparison, key mechanical performance indicators, including initial peak force (PF), (EA), specific (SEA), mean crushing (MCF), load efficiency (CLE), evaluated. deformation modes during observed analyzed, revealing four typical patterns. Among them, there both good bad modes, which significantly affect compressive tube. Additionally, effects introducing creases at different positions behavior explored. Tests conducted to verify reusability tubes. exhibited significant improvements in PF, SEA, MCF after manual recovery cyclic testing, indicating their potential reusability. With excellent properties, foldability, reusability, CNTF/EP suitable various impact mitigation applications.
